Panthers sign Wharton

The longer Mikell is out there the cheaper he can be had for. I wouldn't put it outside the realm of possibility for us to sign him, but all it takes is one team to have an injury and he will get scooped up quick for one year.

Agreed.

I am surprised he is still out there. His asking price must be ridiculous.

Yes cut by Hurney. The same guy that invested $90 million in running backs, yet went bargain shopping for OL.

That philosophy worked our real well for us, didn't it?

Being a dick to someone you quoted first is not necessary either btw.

Did not mean to be a dick to you, just pointing out it was not performance that got him released.

And, the original contract he had was another Hurney mistake. Cutting him was about all we could do at the time. He was sig overpaid.

Lastly....you having an issue with me being sarcastic is pretty laughable. You are the poster child for snarky remarks. Actually, that is why I find your posts amusing and entertaining....I have an appreciation for it.

Just checked....I quoted the right post.

TheRed said it was amazing how so many people are happy to see him back after we cut him....showed how bad our OL has been.

My point was that he was not let go due to performance and most knowledgeable fans were upset to see him released. He was let go due to cost, not play.

This is a smart move.

I mean, if we're being intellectually honest and all - it's because of both reasons. His last year here he was below average, not terrible, but not good or even league average. He had a negative PFF rating for the whole year. It was of the fact that he wasn't very good, combined with being paid like a upper-middle tier lineman, that created the reason we cut him.
