I would agree with this...EXCEPT none of the other positions you mention are expected to LEAD their team. Playing and leading are quite different.

I think you're putting too much into this leading crap. The NFL is made of grown man with 3-5 kids. They already have their grown man leaders. They can do without a rah rah kid from college. They just need someone to execute the play.  Like Smitty would say "throw me the goddamn ball".
