Thanks for the link and here's hopping Peppers is signed to a long term contract in the next few weeks.

They have 7 more days to get a deal done with peppers, if a deal isn't done by the 15th they can't have any contract talks with Peppers or his agent till next off season.

I thought the deal was that if there was a new contract in place by the 15th then it would affect the 2009 season and if not then it wouldn't come into effect until the '10 season, not that there could be no contract talks of any kind until after '09?

As I've stated elsewhere, I don't know football as a business, so forgive me if this seems a little idiotic to ask.

It's kewl, the Franchise tag, and cap rules and stipulations are stupid.

Franchise tag players and the team that tagged them have till July 15th to reach a long term deal, otherwise they play under the tag and talks can't take place till the season has ended. If they can't reach a deal and the player plays under the tag, that player following the season is a FA at the start of Free agency unless the team either signs that player long term or re-tags said player again.

Panthers agreed to terms with fifth-round OG Duke Preston on a four-year contract, including a $171,590 signing bonus.

Robinson teamed with Vikings rookie Phil Loadholt in the most dominant left side in college football last season. He'll develop his skills in the Panthers' power-blocking system while sitting behind Keydrick Vincent and Travelle Wharton.

Hey, I have to have something to read while I'm out walking the dog every day. Supposedly, we were 'close' to signing Brown two weeks ago. I guess we weren't that close after all. Yes, I know we have a week left before camp. Yes, I know we'll get them all signed this week. That's why I threw the line in about the porn star. We gotta have something to talk about...
