Whats the status on jamal lee?

Jamall Lee isn't a draft pick. he was picked up as an undrafted player, which means he's under contract.

As far as the draft picks, Sherrod Martin, Corvey Irvin, Duke Robinson and Everette Brown remain unsigned.

Going by the NFL network segment, the finance guy on the show said that we had deals in place with most if not all our draft picks. Were just waiting on a deal with peppers (which is being worked on big time by both sides according to this guy) to be reached for those contracts to go through.

Peppers long term thing? that would be sweet but I dont think it would affect our team much for the rest of the season unless we try to resign DWILL which we really need to figure out what we will do with once his contract is up.

DeAngelo doesn't become a FA for two more years, he doesn't become a FA until the 2011 season so the Panthers have plenty of time left. Besides, they wouldn't want to sign him to a new contract too soon because I'm sure he would want an increase in the amount he will making over the next two seasons and they could barely afford the players they have now.

They can't afford too many players making top dollars, they have to rely on their bargain players still playing on their rookie contracts. DeAngelo will be making big money once his rookie contract ends.

He may, but I don't think he'll want it to the point he'll threaten to hold out or cause a stir over it. He seems to have a really good character, I've been impressed by what I've seen in him so far.

    • Players don't take team friendly deals to stay in dumpster fire organizations. At 31 this will be his last shot to get one last payday and possibly his last shot to try to compete for a ring of that's what he wants. He generally fits the description of a guy who would demand a trade more than he fits the description of a guy open to take a team friendly deal with his current team.
    • My point was simply, we do not know the extent of his knees.  If they are shot, as Joe Person referenced after the season (referring to the reason he missed week 17) I am not seeing that as an asset or selling low--it is complicated, I know.  But if you consider what we actually know, you are absolutely right.
    • I just love getting under everyones feathers. Also, if we aren't going to extend him, and I dont see a reason too, why would we be prolonging the inevitable. If we pick at #8, the chances of this guy being BPA is very high. Nobody can agree on who should be picked at #8, we have made that obvious from the 47000 different posts about what we do with the 8th pick. I am just here to give my opinion, which I think makes sense. We act like Moton can't be replaced. This is different than trading Moore, or McCaffrey, they were young. This guy is coming off a knee injury at 31 years of age. and I'm just suggesting we draft a guy who can come in and start at RT, and could possibly switch with Ekwonu in year 2. Or who knows, the guy can probably play LT this year and we can go ahead and make Ekwonu move to RT. Instead of picking BPA I guess we all are good just picking Walker or Mykel ot Mcmillan, or a Safety at #8?  I'm not... If we can't trade back, which I think is the best option unless somehow Carter, Hunter, or Graham are available, then why would I not consider the most athletic OT in the draft instead of reaching? The people on this board are so divided on who to pick, and the minute someone comes up with a hypothetical, they spill their coffee. I LOVE IT!.
