It's possible, but, it depends on if you want to win now or not. Brandon Williams is not going to allow you to win right now. The guy can't block, he has only caught 1 pass, making him a liability at this point. If the Patriots want to stash him away, that's fine, but they have other players who can contribute immediately, we do not.

 

They can't claim him and stash him. If they claim him, he has to be a member of their final 52.

Shiancoe isn't an upgrade over Williams but he's an upgrade over Hartsock.

Brockel can play full back and tight end so he should/could make Hartsock expendable if the Panthers decide to add another pass-catching tight end.

We could always have Brandon Williams have a mysterious injury and go to IR. He wouldn't last on the PS. I however, think he makes the roster. He's learning too quickly.

Williams has much better measurables vs. shianco. Id rather keep Williams especially if the second pass catcher gets as much playing time as barnidge got last year.
