Anime Pairings

Recommended Posts

With this topic, you can tell my teen years were doing the early millenium.  So, anime pairings, I never been good at guessing them concerning canon.  I'll go through a short list of them......

Rurouni Kenshin

Digimon

Naruto

Ranma 1/2

Yu Yu Hakusho

In Kenshin, my ideal pairing would have been Aoshi and Megumi.  Though it never really had any canon to it, I thought they would have made a very unique couple.  You're talking about a business man and a doctor, two calculating and mature people would make for a dangerous couple. B)

In Digimon, I was a fan of Tai and Sora.  My brother and I were rivals over this series.  His favorite character was Matt (Yamato in Japan) and mine was Tai.  These two characters were rivals in the show, so there was an added interest in the show in that area.  So when it came to pairings, my brother got a good laugh when Sora ended up with Matt.

In Naruto, I've been interested in the dynamic of Naruto and Hinata.  Now, as of late, I doubt they will end up together.  I hate it because this pairing has always been kind of an underdog type pairing (and I guess I gravitate more to these type pairings), but now I think Naruto will end up with Sakura.  Which sucks a little bit, and kind of feels like a let down in a way.

In Ranma 1/2, I liked the prospect of Ryoga and Ukyo.  The title couple of this show was Ranma and Akane, so I wanted Ranma's rival, Ryoga, to have an equally great partner.  That was Ukyo.

Finally in Yu Yu Hakusho, the two characters I felt would have made for a great pairing, was Kurama and Botan.

So there you have it.  I don't believe I ever seen an anime that actually paired off my favorite pairing of the series.  I suppose my feeling when it comes to pairings, is I take the attitudes and qualities of the male and female characters that I most like, and then just put them together.  This is most evident in my Rurouni Kenshin pairing.  Of course it's not always this way.  Sometimes I just try to find a great partner for the male character I most like.  An example of that would probably be my Digimon pairing of Tai and Sora. (If I ever came close to getting upset over an anime pairing, the Digimon ending probably came the closest.  Due to the rivalry with my brother and all. )

This thread may be nerdvana worthy....not sure many men still watch cartoons

I still watch some stuff from my childhood every now and then just for nostalgia. There's still some awesome animated movies released. Batman the Animated Series is amazing. Regular Show to me is the funniest thing on televison.

You're also going to get bronies biting your head off.

Yep.  I noticed that just after posting this topic originally. B)   Mods can you move this topic over to that section.  Although, I reject the statement of calling these shows cartoons.  They're japanese animations.

Beware, spoilers lay here:

Naruto and Hinata are destined to be together. The Sage of Six Paths had two sons, one an Uchiha and one a Senju. It is often said the Uzumaki and Senju are distantly related, though exactly how is never specified. It was once said, I believe by Kakashi during the Chuunin Exams arc that the Uchiha and Hyuuga are distantly related, again exactly how is never specified. Their doujutsus are similar in that they both can see chakra. They both naturally have black hair too. So the Uchiha and Hyuuga have incredible eye jutsu and the Senju and Uzumaki both have incredible chakra and life force properties. When the dna of an Uchiha and Senju come together in the same body, the Rinnegan emerges. This is shown in Madara, towards the end of his life and when he is revived using Edo Tensei when at both times he awakens the Rinnegan after melding Hashirama Senju's cells into his body. Keep in mind that Nagato's Rinnegan eyes were implanted into his body by Obito after Madara's death, he was not born with them. But because he is an Uzumaki, he can somehow still use them, though to a lesser extent than Madara Uchiha. It has also been said, also by Kakashi I believe, that the Rinnegan is merely a mutation. For something to be a mutation, it would have to be something else first.

Everything I just said is all in-the-story canon. Now is where my speculations begin.

How can the Uzumaki and Hyuuga be distantly related to the Senju and Uchiha respectively and yet it is never said that they are related to one another as well? It's completely possible, and here's how. Let's say that approximately eight generations before the current one, an Uzumaki and a Hyuuga fall in love with one another and have a child. I believe this is what happened, and that child was born with the rinnegan and was known as the Sage of Six Paths. The DNA of the Hyuuga Byakugan mutated when mixed with the intense life force and chakra of the Uzumaki DNA and the Rinnegan was born. He had two sons and split his abilities amongst them. He gave his incredible life force and chakra to one son, the Senju ancestor. He then gave his eye abilities to his other son, the Uchiha ancestor. Only instead of giving him the Rinnegan as is, he sealed the Rinnegan away using his incredible sealing jutsu, the same sealing jutsus used to seal the ten tails within his own body. He had to do this as the Rinnegan is always active in the same way that the Hyuuga Byakugan is always active, whereas the Sharingan of the Uchiha can be deactivated. The constant Rinnegan usage would kill a normal person. You saw what it did to Nagato's body, how he was a shriveled prune of a man after using it for so long. It turned his hair white after using the Rinne Tensei to revive the people of Konoha, whereas the Sage of Six Paths would have scoffed at such an easy task and not broken a sweat. The only reason Madara can take it is for two reasons actually. One, he is currently an Edo Tensei, which technically can hardly take damage. Any they take is regenerated and second they basically have limitless chakra. Obito can take it because his body is basically white zetsu clone, which is the cloned and cultivated cells of Hashirama Senju. None of these Rinnegan users can use it to the extent that the Sage of Six Paths could. Well, now Obito is the jinchuuriki of the newly revived, though imperfect, Ten Tails. So I guess he can use it close to it's full extent. However, I believe he would still get pwned by the real Sage himself. So the Sage sealed much of the Rinnegan's powers away, instead opting for the more manageable yet still impressive Sharingan. This is how we have gotten to where we are today.

I believe the Sage of Six Paths was half Uzumaki, Half Hyuuga. I believe this is why Kishimoto has made this Naruto-Hinata plot device. When they have a child someday, I believe that child will be born with the Rinnegan and will be the true new Sage of Six Paths and lead the world into a new era of peace.

Don't judge me. Been watching the show since I was 13.

You're fine, I was just joking.  Kind of like that statement when someone sees a man playing with toys, and they say they're not toys, but action figures. B)

Those are very interesting thoughts.  The thing is during much of part II of the Naruto series, the relationship between Naruto and Sakura have developed a whole lot.  If we were just talking about part I, I always got the vibe that eventually Naruto would return Hinata's feelings.  There was a little bit of development between Naruto and Sakura at the end of part I, when she was appreciative of Naruto's efforts bringing Sasuke back.  Yet all in all, you could tell Sakura loved Sasuke, and Naruto would eventually give up on Sakura and see Hinata.  Yet it's a different beast in part II/Shippuden series.

There has been a tone of development between them recently.  Sakura turned down a fellow ninja who took a liking to her, stating she loved someone else.  It should be when we in the audience heard that, our minds should automatically think Sasuke right?  Wrong.  The whole thing was left open ended, and we know who the only other possible choice is besides Sasuke.  Then of course you have Naruto's parents talking about a possible girlfriend for him, and how Naruto's father see much of his wife in Sakura.  Too many things in part II that says Naruto and Sakura will end up together.  Also, look at the development between Naruto and Hinata.  There isn't much at all.  Even with the big confession, it didn't do much.  In fact, I'm actually wondering if Naruto even heard Hinata's confession.  It's hard to tell from the anime.  Perhaps there was more interaction in the manga. (I don't read the manga, but I do keep up with the details from time to time.)

So ultimately, I think where the story leads from here is that while Hinata's feelings aren't returned by Naruto, she will ultimately come out of her shell thanks to him.  So through her crush on Naruto, she gains her self confidence so to speak.  Kishimoto will probably do something off the wall in the end, and pair Sasuke with Hinata.  Yet it seems destined that Naruto and Sakura will end up together. (Yep, I grew up in the early millenium as well.  Of course it's still the early millenium when you think about it.) B)

Doc, I never seen the Hellsing anime before.  Perhaps I'll give it a look!

    • Ravens coach John Harbaugh said “I’m going to have to wait” when asked about Diontae Johnson’s availability following Week 13’s loss to the Eagles. This comes a day after Harbaugh declined to comment on Johnson’s availability immediately after the loss when he said, “I’m not really ready to comment on that right now. I will be, but I don’t have enough information right now.” Whatever “information” Harbaugh needs is a mystery to most, but maybe he’ll gather that intel during the team’s Week 14 bye. Since being acquired by the Ravens’ at the trade deadline, Johnson has run 19 routes while playing on 39 offensive snaps. Johnson didn’t see the field in Sunday’s loss despite Rashod Bateman exiting early with a knee injury. Bateman’s injury isn’t believed to be long-term, but it will be interesting to see if Johnson sees an increase in playing time should Bateman miss a game or two
    • Wouldn't 300 yards and 2 TDs passing be considered "lighting it up" vs. the Eagles?  I take "lighting it up" to be an exceptional performance, not just NFL standard play. Don't you?
    • This must be one of his more popular videos because he drops these Bryce so quickly.
