didnt know kuechly was such a god that its crazy to even debate whether or not he's the best defensive player in the league. you sir are ignorant.

U dont trade away one of your best players who's only going into his second season. I'm not saying he will be the best defensive player in the league or that he will be the best linebacker to play. But u can't think of trading him away when he has the chance to be. And damn he ain't even in his prime yet.

the same could be said for JJ Watt. so why is it a dumb topic to bring up?

would you trade him for any offensive players?

Let's see: DROY, made a joke of the defending champ's offense, his teammates, coaches, analysts, even opposing fans (check the Ravens board from last night), etc. almost unanimously say he's off the charts good, some thinking he is the next all-time great MLB, more than a few saying he's getting close to that level of play already, and he hasn't even started his second regular season.  We have no idea what his upside is.  My answer is no, not a chance for the duration of his contract.  I could tell he was something special early last year when people were ragging on him as being overhyped before they moved him to the middle, and I'm no football expert, just a fan, but generally speaking, I do know you don't see this kind of excellence in anyone, doing anything, come along very often.

On a side note, did anyone catch Rivera's expression after the interception?  It's on one of the NFL highlight vids.  Of all people, RR shouldn't ever be surprised at Luke's ability, but you could tell he was astounded...and we're still in the preseason of his sophomore year.

Because no team trades away one of their best young players after only his rookie season.

Heck, even a few years down the road, the whole concept would still be ludicrous.

And even for a guy like J J Watt, what's the point? You get a great player, but you also lose a great player. And throw in that you lose a guy who knows the system and plays well in it in favor of a guy you have to teach the system and - great talent though he may be - who knows if he'll fit as well as the guy you gave up?

Hence, the whole notion is pointless.

Bottom Line: You trade guys you can do without, not guys you want to build your team around.

hypothetical question, wouldn't you be ignorant if you were the one who didn't know Kuechly is* such a god that it's crazy to even debate whether or not he's the best defensive player in the league?
