Barner over Williams

Barner needs to quit fumbling before he is trusted. I like him for the fact that he can catch out of the backfield. Don't forget about Tolbert. I'm fine with DW, Barner, and Tolbert.

I agree on Stew, I think his wheels are starting to come off. He'll play in week 2 or 3, because that is what he does, but I suspect nagging injuries to really plague him moving forward.

wow .. what does DWill have to do to gain the respect of fans??

be careful what you wish for!

personally - I'm not worried about DWill .. he'll have a great year

He didn't have a great year last year behind a weak OL...

And too many people want to make it a Williams thing....sure we are talking him....but it is more a rush attack arguement. How all the pieces fit

This is all fine and good but Barner has shown absolutely NO ability to block.  NONE.  He might as well just tell Cam when it is coming because he doesn't seem to be able to do anything about it.

So you are saying Barner should be on our O-Line?

You make an interesting point but I'm not sure how well Barner (or anyone his size) will hold up under all that punishment.

With Stewart in limbo I'd like to see Tolbert be used more in the running game (when he's back) and I suspect we will. Put Brockel in at FB and let Tolbert pound the defense, then bring in DeAngelo/Barner when the defense is worn out for a change of pace.

The more I watch our oline struggle, the more I realize how much we're going to need the read option to create running lanes.

Fans don't want to hear this, but DeAngelo is a wily veteran and may be making "career decisions" during these preseason games. On the other hand, Barner is a young buck trying to prove himself by diving head-long into the fray.

Not making excuses for DeAngelo, just pointing out something that needs to be considered... when the real games start you may see DeAngelo be more aggressive.

But that doesn't explain why Williams was so average in the majority of our games last with poor OL play
