Why do we worry about future contracts so much here? It' can be done if you structure the contract right for everyone to get fairly paid. DE franchise tag money for 2014 is 10 mill. We can sign hardy to a close to CJ contract for a little bit over that and even though next year we take a bigger hit, over the life of the contract the numbers will drop significantly. By the time Cam's contract is up the big inital hit on Hardy's contract is off the books, Beason off the books, Williams and Stewart off the books, Gross probably retired by then, Smitty probably off the books or restructured, Godfrey off the books, Last year of TD's deal... etc. We can give Cam a Flacco contract and there will be 0 problem signing up Kuechly and everyone we actually want to keep if we are smart in the FO.

I don't see how Cam's contract is even on anyone's mind. He's got another couple of years to show what he deserves to get paid.

But if Hardy has another good year we simply can't afford to pay him. Screw paying someone just because they deserve it, you have to build a team.

This thread has about 6 pages that are completely unnecessary. This is the Kraken just retweeting someone because a fan from another team is on his nuts and it fueled his ego. The implied "oh he is already thinking huge money" or "he is already thinking about leaving" thoughts are just blown out of proportion freak outs. The man just retweets any fan that basically says "Have my babies, you're so awesome Kraken."

If he gets 10+ sacks this year it would be fair because of similar numbers but it's ok if you believe CJ shouldn't have gotten that contract to begin with.  However lets say he get's 15 sacks (more than JP has ever had in a year), is it fair then?

If you pair that with the tweets about speeding and other crazy behavior, I feel the same way.  To retweet this after saying he wasn't worried about a contract is weird.  Dude would not stay here for 40mil (Edwards) if he could go make Jared Allen money.  Think what he will want if he out performs C. Johnson this season too.

He said 2 weeks ago in an interview that he wasn't about the money.  He was about playing football.  His agent would be doing the negotiating and that money wasn't the most important thing.  Sure he isn't going to work for peanuts but he doesn't strike me as a guy who is that level headed or a businessman.  He is an art major for goodness sakes.  All the retweeting is about publicity which he clearly seeks.

All i know is our financials are all kinds of messed up,  i would love to keep everyone on this team and add on but we can't afford it and i get a little bit sad when i think about it. 

 

I'm pretty sure we are all-in to win the super bowl this year or next year,  because i think we will be losing a lot of good players then,  and i think we need hardy for that,  even though he would probably bring in some decent picks i think we should bite the bullet,  i don't know though,  this thread is making me sad.
