I get what stirs is saying.

I don't think it is likely that Cam is not signed long-term.  But, if he is still having the "same" accuracy issues and the team is not winning two years from now, Gettleman WILL have to decide if he is the answer.

Bingo.

If Gettleman thinks we can win a Superbowl with an amazing defense and game manager QB, that is his call. Its been done before. Paying Cam a record breaking contract and not being able to then afford a good defense or even any offensive weapons around him may not be enticing to Gettleman.

he won't get paid a record-breaking contract if he has accuracy issues and isn't playing to his full potential. that is the whole point.

Our start to the season is really going to impact Hardy especially IMO.  If we start slow/start losing hope, I could see him being shopped (if Gettlemen believes we will have to part ways).

I think it was Kurb who mentioned once a contract that could be back-loaded where his big money hits as CJ's starts to ease up on the cap, and we could part ways with Johnson if need be. If possible, that situation could be ideal. Gettlemen will definitely need to work some magic in the upcoming years.

@MrFerreira675@ItsGHardy I WANT" THE KRAKEN" IN OAKLAND NEXT YEAR.69 MIL IN CAP SPACE.LETS GET THIS BEAST ON OUR D.

Anyone catch the hardy retweet last night? I know I'm grasping at straws but, he's asking for Charles johnson type that we don't have. And it looks like he doesn't care where he gets it. I would suggest getting some value for him now while he's still got value.

this is the most important point in your post.

not saying hardy doesn't want to get paid, because he does...but hardy's been retweeting money tweets sent to him almost since day one. that along with anything else that strokes his mildly psychotic ego.

from a business standpoint...alexander, star, and, short have made the kraken almost expendable.

Not here he won't. But someone may offer it to him. Oakland comes to mind.

lol. if you think he'd even entertain going to oakland

flip it over what have we done for luke this offseason? gave him weapons to succeed by drafting big body DT's and surrounding him with talent and look what that did for him.

now we have a player of his caliber on the other side of the ball. but he hasn't been given the tools to succeed. Why can't we have what SF has? both offense and defense? you pay your stars and surround them

can you win a super bowl in today's NFL with a game manager QB is a question. i dont think so, and i hope Gettleman doesnt either.

San Fran didn't have the cap issues we have and it took them a long time to get where they are now

    • I mean it's not even like this was his worst game of the season... I'm not done with him by any means but this feels more the norm for him than the exception:/
    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
