History Made Tonight

So many thoughts and emotions from this game.

We did not start our intended starting 5 linemen.

They played against one of the best defensive lines in football.

And they looked like poo.

Defense, is going to be making history thus season. Pay attention.

we don't really have a RG and every option there is bad.....so how was that not our starting OL?

ahhh. I was looking for him. Guess I just missed him.

His hammy needs to heal. With only two weeks. Sighs.

Reports are he stayed on the sideline in pads and was walking around after the game fine. Rivera claimed it was a precaution....

Who knows. Hammies are weird

As good as our defense was tonight making plays, we got some pretty lucky breaks. They still gave up 27 points and it would have been 50+ had we not forced those turnovers.

Hopefully we aren't game planning and just playing vanilla D

seriously?

Like they didn't have some lucky breaks.

If our offense could have stayed on the field a minute or two, things would have been drastically better for our defense.

I just hope Shula can adapt.

Ok, so your O-line is complete poo. Let's understand that and move forward amicably. Don't force whatever it was you thought you could do, and now start working on what you'll actually be able to do. Bootlegs, three step drops, screens. I know Cam loves to air it out, but we need to cut that crap out if he isn't realistically going to have an opportunity to do it without someone's shoulder pad landing firmly in his oblique muscle..

Has Cam even had a bootleg or roll out play yet? Hell, they called one for Clausen's first snap tonight.

People were saying how good Clausen looked, but to me it sure looked like they moved him around some to help with the pressure and called a lot more fast developing plays for him.

Meh - defenses that cause turnovers aren't the worst thing in the world and sometimes those type of defenses give up a lot of yards.  I'd also go so far as to say some of those turnovers weren't lucky breaks.  Luke's FF was just a beast-mode play and some of the INT were the product of a very good pass rush forcing Flacco into terrible decisions.

Besides....you really need to separate when our first team D was in from the end of the game when the guys who might not even make a team were in, b/c they were different games basically.  Our first team guys didn't give up 27...and wouldn't have if they'd stayed in.

Our first team D did extremely well.  Our scrubs didn't do so well.  This isn't surprising.
