2014 Draft Positions of Need.

2014 Panthers Offseason

(1) Jordan Matthews

(2) Jason Verrett / Bradley Roby / Kyle Fuller / Marcus Roberson / Louchiez Purifoy

(3) Aaron Colvin

(4) Devante Parker / Cody Hoffman / Jeremy Gallon

FA: Michael Oher / Jared Veldheer / Breno Giacomini / Chris Clark

Very possible but with the CB being Super deep this year Fuller should be there at 2. Also have many say Roby drop way down to 3rd round due off the field issues and drop off this season.

Wishful thinking but would be real giddy if we were able to land both Fuller and Roby with our 2nd and 3rd. D would be night and day from now (which is scary considering how good we are now due to front 7)

My ultimate wishful dream scenario. Ebron falls to us if not still get solid WR.

Pickup a vet RT (shouldn't be hard to find one better than bell). Lock up hardy.

Then overhaul the DB's Fuller in the 2nd Roby 3rd Ed Reynolds 4th. Grab Asomugha cheap (play the nickel and work with the young guys).

Highly unlikely but that right there would give us one of the top D's the NFL has seen in a Long time. The type that can can carry a team to a Super Bowl under a Defensive coach. Offense would be better with that first round weapons added to Cam's belt

From what I saw last night: WR / CB / OT.

Cam needs major help down field. Olsen played a great game yesterday, but Lafell almost fumbled on his incredible catch.

Corner is still an issue. Florence was beat multiple times and Holmes had White on a couple plays but dropped the passes.

Bell is up and down, but if we can just retain both Gross and Wharton with Amini and Kug coming back next year we should be fine. We could go fine a veteran OT or draft one in the 3rd or 4th (love one in the 2nd tho). Anything, I would love to make a run at Chris Clark (Denver) or Breno Giacomini (Seattle) to compete with Bell for the RT spot.

OT - They're horrible.

WR - Inconsistent play by Lafell, Ginn, etc.  Smith is getting old and we need guys who can and will step up.

RB - Our run game is BAD.  Stewart can't stay healthy and Williams is getting old.  Would love to get Andre Williams.

CB - They're not terrible, but can look bad at times, but not an HUGE concern like some people put them out to be.  As long as our d-line puts pressure on the opposing QB, our corners will do fine.

QB - Derek is getting old and just doesn't bring what Cam brings to the table with his mobility and elusiveness.  If Cam goes down, we're screwed.

I'd say it's worth keeping Derek at backup QB just because of his veteran experience that he can impart to Cam. To me it seems ideal to have a backup veteran when starting a rookie QB, as the veteran could help with the development of the rookie. When Cam signs his first real contract it would then be prudent investing in a young backup with potential.

It looks like the Panthers will be drafting late in the first round. With that being said, it appears that the TOP OTs will be gone. You'd be looking at the 4-5th best on available, the 3-4th best WR, or the 2-3 CB left. I'd go best available from these 3 positions. AS OF NOW, I'd go WR-1st Rnd, OT-2nd Rnd and CB-3rd. Come right back to OT in the 4th and WR with the 5th choice. WR/CB with the last few picks. It's still early.

I highly prefer WR first, bc imo that's our strongest need. Corner is pretty bad too but I think we could find help through FA.

If we decide to take an OT in the 1st, I'm fine with it. I think what you're missing out on is that other than Jake Matthews there's not much 'drop-offs' from the 2nd best OT to the 5th: Kouandjio, Lewan, Robinson, Erving, Ogbuehi, and Richardson. We'll still be getting a very talented OT if we chooses to. Also, I really believe that the 2nd round OT prospects are just as talented: La'el Collins, James Hurst, Seantrel Henderson, and Jack Mewhort. Sucks that Brandon Scherff is returning to school next season.

Now, that's why I believe that we should go WR first and OT second. Bc, there is a drop-offs of talents from the 1st round WR prospects to the 2nd round prospects unlike at OT.

Rotoworld.com announcing giants will not bring back Hakeem nicks! No suprise i guess but gettleman can be smart here! Nobody apart from raiders perhaps will pay nicks big money not after his last two seasons of mediocrity! I say gettleman offers him a homecoming incentives based $2-4 mill deal.

If that is done then the need for a top top wide receiver in the first can wait perhaps or we can double dip at Oline a tackle and a guard then go for a receivers in the third! An go dbs and a rb late in draft.

My opinion is nicks will be a panther which I'm ok with if he's offered an incentives based deal so he balls from day one! He has something to prove!, with beasons 6th round pick we have all seven picks available unlike last years 5 so I say knowing we have nicks we trade up from 28th pick for a top ten pick and get Watkins or Lee! We can get a oline in second like a hurst from unc, so trading a third or fourth is no biggy and then we get our needs filled by taking dbs late in the draft and undrafted prospects! Out of the 8 guys we signed to futures contracts five were Oline men I think, so it tells you we will probably only take one in the draft with kugbila, amini to both comeback next year, so trading up would make sense and then cam gets his line upgraded and gets two weapons in nicks and a top ten pick wideout.

Sorry even if we get a Nicks we still need to go WR 1st.  OL, Gross is having a Pro-Bowl year and Very Possible he comes back.  The OG's are down to the 3rd String (could you imagine the WR's being in that spot having to possibly bring back Armanti to start?!) and the 1st's are in their 1st-2nd year (Gettleman also high on).  Bell is Garbage but its not hard to find a FA or 3rd rounder better them him to protect his right side.  Cam is mobile and overall has had a decent amount of time in the pocket this year.  That game winning drive, he had more time in the pocket than Any of our opponents this year have had.  Many Many sacks have came from WR's failing to get open (see Sunday night Nola game where announcers were highlighting almost every drive going around circling all our guy unable to get separation).  I can tell you there are Many teams in the NFL right now who would love for their OL to be playing at the level our guys have had considering the injuries.  Just no need to spend a 1st on an OT to replace Gross at LT down the road.  We are right up there right now as a Super Bowl contender.  Don't go grabbing guys that may help 3-4+ years down the road grab a guy who is going to help Now.  You can use that 1st on a LT when Gross does decide to hang it up.  To be honest double dipping in some form (FA+1st, 1st+2nd) at WR is a must this year.

If we don't get Nick's, i'd kill to double dip at WR like we did DT.  Benjamin+Moncrief, Matthews+Moncrief.  It doesn't matter what OL Cam has, without Weapons it is not going to matter at all.  The OL we have now (healthy and minor fix on the right side) is perfectly fine if Cam has weapons.  If Cam had something to work with outside Smith and Olson there would not be a mummer about this OL besides Gross will need to be replaced in a few years.
