2014 Draft Positions of Need.

Hypothetical question:

Cam breaks his leg and we finish with the second overall pick in the 2014 draft.

Pick number one chooses terry bridgewater.

We are up, and teams are dying to make a trade.

Team with pick number four offers us their first round, their third round and next years first for our pick. Do we trade?

Did w sign Greg Hardy to an extension?  If so yea I probably take that deal and then take either Matthews, Kouandjio or Lee/Watkins at #4.

More hypothetical stuff.

Do we take our OT and then give up our newly acquired picks and a second to move back into the first round and grab lee or watkins or another OT or see what next year offers?

Big price to pay but with still having a first in 15 I probably pull the trigger on that. Matthews / Lee(Watkins) is a MAJOR haul. Both are a little undersized as elite WRs, but they make up for it with other skills....

Realistically, I hope we end up with an elite tackle or lee/Watkins in round 1. Even if we have to move up.

This is just me, but I would absolutely love to trade up for Marqise Lee. I don't care if that cost us a 2nd and future 1st. If he lives to the hype, it's a win for us. I gladly come out of the draft with Marqise alone. It's time to find 89 replacement now.

Though, I'm not sure if Lee would compliment Cam as well as Sammy Watkins. Watkins seem more athletically gifted to where we can use him in more dynamic ways: coming off screens, reverses, and with the read option. Lee is better off being with a Rodgers, Brady, Ryan kind of QB.

I would love to sign Jeremy MacLin and draft purifoy from Florida and go from there. I think we can get maclin cheap since he will be coming off of injury.

I would love it. But it all comes down to how well Maclin comes back from the ACL. I dont think he's on Hakeem Nicks' level, but he's a great no2 receiver that can fill the no1 role.

Purifoy is a solid CB prospect and an even greater ST player.

Would you trade away a Dline of : Johnson, Short, Star, Clowney?

I would let Hardy walk and use that money toward Nicks/OL.

Now if Clowney was taken no1 overall, I wouldnt hesitate to make that trade for someone in need of Bridgewater. With that said, I'd take the best OT available. Trade the recent acquisitions: 2015 1st/3rd to get back into the 1st.

2014

1st: Cyrus Kouandjio OT, Alabama

1st: Ifo Ekpre-Olomu CB, Oregon "or" Louchiez Purifoy CB, Florida

2nd: Gabe Jackson OG, Mississippi State (If he's available. Teams may again make a run at OL in 2014.)

True everyone heals different but I think he would fill the void quite nicely if we decide he is 100 percent

Tre Boston, my mistake. Ty!

chuck: I could've sworn that I read that on the main board somewhere. I wish I could remember the source.

Rivera talks about corners in this article. I just read through this thread and remember him saying that too.

Every year since that Seattle playoff game where they tripled smitty I've wanted a wide reciever to help 89 out. I hope your right Kurb and that Gettleman stays with his pattern and adds OLine help through FA's and drafts a Wide reciever early this year. I do realize OLine is a major concern that needs to be addressed.

1 a. OLine

b. WR

2. CB

    • You are wise beyond your years to agree with me.  I think Fields is the free agent with the most upside---I mean, you keep looking until your franchise qb is on the roster-we are all hoping that Bryce will grab it, but he has not yet.
    • he is a sleeper--I am not good at predicting college QBs who succeed in the NFL, but this guy is going to change my luck.  I just think he'd be a good fit here.  4th round, maybe 5th.
