2014 Draft Positions of Need.

OT

DE after Hardy leaves for payday

LB after Beast leaves for a Mike position

Hopefully we can get an O-Line starter and a legit WR/CB in FA. The rest can come through the draft. We have a knack for finding good DE's off the damn street and we have a stable full of great LB's so I'm not too worried about those two positions. After all that, draft BPA in the first and second as always. Hopefully BPA will be an O-Lineman, a DB, or a WR. This team has a shtload of holes, but it's not outside the realm of possibility to get most of them filled. I still think the secondary is going to have to wait for major reinforcements until offseason 2015, which is fine as long as we give them a legit band aid this coming offseason. Band aid as in one legit player at CB or S. Sooooo

Pick up an OT/G and a WR in FA

Draft BPA and hope BPA is O-Line/WR/DB - Make sure we draft at least one legit DB in the first or second round unless a great FA falls into our laps. O-Line needs to be a focus, though. That line needs help BAD. My IDEAL order would be...

1 - O-Line

2 - DB

After that, BPA with a focus on WR/O-Line talent.

we need multiple college qb's and de's to star this season. Teams in the top 10 need those positions,

which could push a very good ol down to us.

Hope for a slew of qb's breaking out this year.

I'm not sure if any of the top 3 OTs (Matthews, Lewan, and Kouandjio) will fall out the top 12. Teams are OTs hungry these days. Matthews and Lewan would've been 1st rounders ahead of guys like Fluker, Johnson and Pugh if had entered the draft.

Assuming if we're anywhere better than picking before the top 15 picks, we might have no luck at one of those three guys. But, we could settle for a quality Guard like Cyril Richardson or Gabe Jackson. Also, from now til next year draft some guys from nowhere could put themselves up there with the rest of the notables.

If anything, lets hope that some the DTs (Nix,etc) and Corners push the OTs down.

That CB class next year is pretty legit. If y'all havent check it out yet, go do so.

(Bradley Roby can make some "hits".)

I really hope we're not in position to Draft Roby.  He's likely a top 10 pick.  Has every skill necessary to be a shutdown Corner, just needs to refine his technique pressing and jamming WRs at the line, and learn to get his head around so he's not so grabby down field.

Not a chance in hell Matthews or Kouandjio go before Lane Johnson in last years Draft.  Matthews because he's never played LT in college, CK because he's not nearly as good....

I bet my left ball that Matthews and Lewan would've went ahead of Johnson. Matthews was probably the better OT at A&M last season too. Johnson was a projected 2nd rounder "until" Matthews and Lewan decided to return back to college. Other wise he would've been a late 1st.

I hope we don't pick in the top 10 too. The kid is probably a top7 pick if he plays well this season. He reminds me very much of Antoine Winfield.

WR and Oline have to be the top two needs. Need to get a starting caliber Left Tackle and a few wr's that are able to come in and play with Cam from day 1.  A future WR 1 / current wr 2 and a slot and a few backups. Lafell hasn't shown enough to be brought back as anything more then a 3rd/4th option. Anything over that and he's being over paid.

On Defense, possibly another rotation DE (If Hardy isn't brought back) and definitely a few DB's.

All together the Panther's need a LT, RT, a few WR, a few CB, SS.  Possibly a DE.

Those are all positions that are extremely weak on the Panther's right now.

He was a mid to late first when he came out, and wen he killed the Senior Bowl and Combine it shot him up the draft board.  I'll agree Matthews is better then Joeckel, but Johnson's upside is unreal.  Johnson would have gone ahead of Matthews just for the fact that he's played LT at a high level in College already....

I'm not taking anything from Lane but IMO Lane wouldn't have been the no.4 pick if Matthews and/or Lewan had entered.
