A hypothetical about dark thoughts.

I dont know that my wife would stick around if she knew all my thoughts.. I have only a few that are true friends, theyd be OK with it. Acquaintances come & go, dont really feel like their opinions matter in the grand scheme of things...

Lies

jk...

.....maybe

:p

Hubby and bro would stick around for sure. My husband knows how fuged up I can be. And as far as me with him, only thing I could find out about him that would completly freak me out would have to do with pedophilia and murder.

How many people in your life would immediately leave you as a spouse, friend, etc if all of your thoughts, (good, bad, evil, holy) were immediately released to the world?

I would be rather lonely I think...

Well....if they are quick thoughts then all is normal. What ifs etc. Actually psychologically speaking it is normal as well. Now if you dwell and plan the details out instead of dismissing them then you may have an issue.

Yes they would...they are snapshots though so that is my defense.

I read a study that said that sane people have many dark thoughts, that they for the most part quickly dismiss. The researchers in the study believe it's one way that our brains reinforce social and ethical mores. A sort of a 'just checking' to make sure you're still sane kind of thing. If you dwell on it, or start to plan/act on them, then seek help.

Also, one person's dark fantasy is another person's Saturday night.

Perfect. I didn't read all the way through when I quoted Kurb

You also have to wonder if what is considered a dark thought is societal conditioning because it's viewed taboo, or if it's because the thought is morally reprehensible. For example, some women have rape fantasies. A lot won't admit to it publicly, but studies have shown it's far from uncommon.

everyone has dark thoughts. if someone could read your dark thoughts they would surely realize that you reading theirs would be necessary to level the playing field, automatically eliminating any real judgement (if they're not assholes.)

That would be nice but I think human history shows a large percentage do not have the ability to do what you're suggesting.

right but in a hypothetical scenario as farfetched as being able to read your thoughts it's safe to say we can stretch expectations in other areas.

My wifey would likely go.

Top end friends wouldn't be surprised.

Then again I'm a bit of a closet deviant so maybe they would all be surprised.

Kurb....when those thoughts come....just get out your bant stick and do some Huddle cleaning.  Good therapy and it makes this sick little world a better place.
