Interesting tidbit on Beason's restructure...FA at end of the Season?

Stewart has battled injuries for years now and failed to miss copious amounts of games (it hasn't affected his gameplay either). So to infer he's commencing a break down because he missed seven games last year is a reach. Stewart is our most valuable back, especially in the Read Option, and Gettleman knows it (which is why he named him our starter).

I say let him rest until he's fully healthy, and load the gunship with Williams, Tolbert and Barner.

Life....older a player gets the harder it is to battle through consistent problems. As he ages, playing through constant injury becomes unrealistic.

He will of missed the opening of the last 2 seasons and spent half of last year on IR....and the full status of this year an unknown. His injuries ain't going away....

And after Barner gets a full year under his belt....the new Oregon RB may fit better than anyone.

Usually when a team does well, everybody is healthy. I would expect Beason to do well if the team did. Just saying.

Well, realistically he could be the 3rd best LB despite us playing well and the 5th best defensive player in 2013 on a good D

That day ain't here yet. It's inevitable, but Stewart has a dependable track record. Until the chinks are overwhelming, he's not going anywhere. PUP or no PUP, J-Stew will likely remain our feature back in G-Man's eyes.

It doesn't matter if Barner has experience a year from now, he won't be our starter. I guarantee you that. He's not that type of back. He needs a back like Stewart and Tolbert.

Past tense, he HAD a dependable track record.

Odds look for the 2nd straight year he isn't ready to to week 1 bc of plaguing injuries and was on IR to end last year.

Starter is a relative term. Unless you run a featured RB it is simply a committee.

Barner was drafted by your G-man....Stewart belongs to Hurn-dawg. You keep pimping Stewart as DG's boy though. Also, DG comes from NY....they don't hang on to RBs like Hurney. They move on

Nope. If D-Will can go on IR and continue to have a productive career, then so can J-Stew.

You're clearly delusional (especially if you believe Barner will be our feature back). Cam and Luke were drafted by Hurney too. Long story short: he's not going anywhere. I suggest you move on from assumptions.

Again, I have never used the words Barner and featured RB in the same sentence.

Said after this year, he likely will be ready for legit reps. DG drafted him for a reason....

no GM is Hurney....DG is going to get out of this RB mess as soon as it is doable.

Bingo, so this absurd theory needs to be put to rest. Barner getting reps is meaningless in reality. He was drafted to be our Scatback. Barner isn't going to replace Stewart or Williams.

Barner was drafted to hopefully be a RB....bc we need to get away from Double Trouble. That starts next year.

Barner getting reps isn't meaningless. If he turns out to be what DG drafted....he becomes a legit part of the RB committee next season and DG starts axing Double Trouble

He's been labeled our scatback by Rivera himself. Don't count on it. There's a reason why Barner made it all the way to the sixth round. I'd let go of those lofty expectations right now.

I have made no lofty statements....only after a NFL season Barner likely will be ready to be part of a RB committee. One ball...too many runners. Old, injured or expensive guys are going to be leaving soon....

we are going to be moving away from Double Trouble most likely starting next year. You need to start working through that....we are going to move away from them for a variety of reasons.

Sorry, but you have no evidence of that. Uttering assumptions and wishing it would happen doesn't equal reality. I suggest you stop predicting because you're not very good at it.

yeah, there is....

Look around the NFL and also look at why Hurney was fired.

Double Trouble isn't the future.  We have both of them today b/c we got handcuffed to them.

if Stewart limps through this year and Williams looks like he did last year.....it is an easy call.

I've been studying the cap for some time. We may keep deangelo Williams in 2014, but we could save a bit as a June 1 cut. We absolutely will keep j stew in 2014, (cap reasons) but one of them will be gone in 2015. The cap hits are way too much for running backs that year and they're getting old and now have an injury history. We have too much talent with Tolbert, Poole, barner and even smith to be paying two older running backs that kind of money.
