Acceptance rates---

ASU:   Acceptance rate: 61.80% (2012)

WCU: Acceptance rate: 38.60% (2012)

Googled it.

i guess my friends getting denied at app but accepted into wcu skewed my perception.

or maybe it's because those stats don't tell the full story of what kind of students apply to wcu.

here are some reviews from your fellow graduates.

"I didnt do anything to get into this university. If you dont try in high school this is where you end up. Guys are lucky because a bunch of trashy whores go here. But they arent lucky when they catch an STD or eventually rape someone. Girls, STAY AWAY"

"When I came here, all you had to have is a pulse. Now, I understand that it is marginally difficult."

"It was so easy I could've cried. Seriously. If you want to come to WCU and you're intelligent, try your hardest to get accepted into the Honors college."

"I came here after I was denied to Appalachian state and unc asheville. For mostly all of my high school senior year this college was not even on my radar. most of the time when I heard WCU I said "What college is that?" Well I think it is an ok school but in the long run I do not plan on staying at the school. It is mostly a transfer school to go to bigger schools like UNC Chapel Hill or Duke. I would recommend that you know for a million percent sure that you officially want to come here. I had a 3.0 in high school with an average SAT score."

I really think LadyPanther would make the best mod. She seems like a very motherly type. The kind that looks out for you, cooks you dinner, but punishes you with the banthammer for running your mouth. I've always considered her posts to be thought provoking and good in content.

SCP is my other nomination, but I think that he'd lose some of his inclination to talk poo to people, especially trolls. That's something this board needs. SCP's humor is priceless.

Third nomination would be a tie between PhillyB and CRA.

So let me get this straight---

I give you the ratio from the total number of applicants who applied in 2012, and you give me the testimonials from a few friends and a few, hand-picked,potential trolls?

Did they teach logic at ASU?

Seriously, Rum, my experience at WCU was great. The education was outstanding. It is not about getting into a school anyway, it is what you get take from it. If a college is only as good as the students they recruit, then how good is the experience there? WCU does not attract the best high school students, but they do wonders with what they get. My closest friends there are dentists, lawyers, and professors. I became a college professor who teaches on the undergrad and grad levels. I got into WCU and was denied at UNC and State. WCU is the reason I was able to elevate from an average athelete and student into a professor with a doctorate from one of the schools I did not get into as an undergraduate. WCU did that-not my high school. There is nothing wrong with providing opportunity.

About ASU--it is a great school. My youngest son wants to go there and I am excited about it. We always joked about ASU at WCU and my ASU friends did the same.

However, I would be careful about making assumptions about a university based on a few friends and some strangers venting on a website. If you were one of my research students, I would tell you that your data is extremely unrelaible and invalid.

Not wanting to argue with you--I usually agree with your posts. Just making a joke, as indicated.
