They are just the opposite.  They have done well in both preseason games and are 2-0.  They are all giddy with excitement.  Check back with them in 8 weeks and they will be all gloom and doom.

My cousin is browns fan...... Doom and gloom is part of being a browns fan. They just accept it haha.

Sorry OP, but I've got a problem with "love it or leave it" threads. It would be just as wrong to create a thread complaining about the homers. We all have a right to express our opinions within the guidelines set by Zod and the other admins.

 

I love the Panthers and want them to win every time the ball is snapped. But if I think, for example, Byron Bell sucked donkey balls in the Philly game, I will express that opinion if someone is writing about how he is progressing. That doesn't make me negative or whatever other label you want to use. It just means that some see things differently.

 

People that are consistently negative are obnoxious, no doubt, but sometimes those with their homer glasses consistently pressed to their face can be a pain as well.

Actually saying Bell sucks because of 2 preseason games is negative whether true or not.  The fact you are complaining in preseason games makes you emo as well.

I  have no problem with you expressing your opinion.  You have a right to say what you want.  That still doesn't make you any less negative or emo.  You can be right and still negative.

Emo is bitching and complaining 2 games into the preseason.  Saying Bell is a marginal RT while potentially true if it continues into the regular season may be true but it is still negative. Too early to tell that yet, which is the whole point.

I was decidedly negative and gloom and doom.  I have no problem with that and readily admitted it.  Of course I was right on target like usual.  I don't have a problem with people being negative now.  I just have a problem when they hide behind the cloak of being a realist instead of admitting they are negative.

 

As for this year, there isn't anything to be negative about yet.  We will be better than we were last year and have a good chance to have a winning season.  Now if Richardson cut a bunch of veterans, dumped Cam and elevated Jimmy to the starter, I would immediately jump on the negative bandwagon and be it's biggest cheerleader.

Sure, some get overly emotional, but fans often do that. It usually is well-intentioned.

I can only think of one poster off the top of my head that is always negative and just kind of a dick overall. The vast majority on here are people that want nothing more than to see their team be successful.

But a board consisting of nothing more than cheerleaders would not be much of a forum. Most want to analyze and debate and that keeps it an interesting place.

Finally, as to Bell (who was only singled out to make a point), we've watched him play for 2 years along with this preseason. He seems like a nice guy, but forgive me for expecting him to continue to come up short. I just don't think he is talented enough to be a starter on our line. Coaches and GM's make those kind of assessments every day. Are they being negative nancies too or are they using their experience and reason to honestly evaluate the player? So as armchair GM's, we're just doing the same.

As for the difference between a coach evaluating a player and what passes for evaluation here is they actually are experts and know what they are talking about.  On here, not so much.
