Gettis is very much in play for the WR3 spot per Joe Person

That's pretty awesome if you think about it.  Didn't know that.

If Hixon starts over Gettis Thursday, I'm calling foul, NO ONE should be given a roster spot just based on the fuging fact he comes from Gettleman's former team.

How about if he starts ahead of Gettis bc he has done more in the NFL?

exactly, owning a specific uniform longer shouldn't trump someone doing more in the league

I got no beef with you CRA but my implication was Gettis proved to me a lot in 2010, Hixon ain't showed me shiit.

I'm from Missouri...............you gotta show me.  What you did at Mercedes means nothing at BMW (get my drift?).

I hope I am wrong and the 6 we keep are Smith, LaFell, Ginn, Gettis, Edwards (can't believe I put that in print) and Hixon.  But I cannot get it out of my head that Hixon will get beat out by someone because he was late to the party.

Let me say this, I want what you want, the best 6 WR's we can field.

But I just think from what I have seen in 2013 is that Gettis is more capable than what I have seen from Domenik, which is nada, zero, suffir.

Time is running out Mr. Hixon.

Hixon hadn't even impressed when he was in training camp, this just screams another case of Naanee, someone given a roster spot just because he has ties with a coach/GM.

Smitty and Lafell are locks. Gettis and Edwards have earned a shot. Hixon and Pilares have shown nothing, other than Pilares plays STs. Adams and Ginn Jr. have return ability, but do we need both?

Considering only 3 WR actually see the field, those last 2 spots are STs slots. Does Ginn Jr. make it as a WR? If so, Adams may make the team as he is our only true returner. Pilares and Hixon may very well find themselves on the outside looking in.

Oh, and saying Gettis is better than Lafell is just silly. Lafell is a proven commodity. Gettis has the potential to be productive, but he needs to prove it all over again. Both can be an asset. Both can make our WR corp better. I can live with that.

I would almost cut Ginn for Hixon just because I think Barner can be just as dangerous returning or any other said Panther and thats the only element Ginn is going to add to anyways. His offensive game is weak.

Hixon can make plays, plenty more than Murphy, and he was our #3 last season

We have 4 WRs who have earned a spot. Smitty, Lafell, Gettis, and Edwards.

We have 3 guys who can return. Adams, Ginn Jr., and Barner.

If they have plans for Barner on Offense I wouldn't expect them to use him too much returning. Most teams don't want a player they may need taking a chance getting hurt returning.

To me it comes down to whether they trust Ginn Jr. as a WR. If they do, we will need a returner, and Adams seems to be the logical choice. If they don't trust Ginn as a WR, he may just do returns. In which case Adams may be gone.

IMO, unless Hixon balls out the next few weeks, he may be gone. He adds nothing to the team as it stands.

Ah hellz. I am confused no end about this. I would hate to lose Adams. Pilares and Hixon can go. Edwards has earned a chance. So has Gettis.

i won't expect gettis to be WR3 unless he gets significant playing time with the starters during the last two preseason games and looks damn good doing it.

This receiver designation number debate is all about who is what for the first game if that. It's a long season and things will evolve over time so I don't see the above to be true.

Gettis needs to show me. He hasn't shown me anything since 2010....and that was overblown IMO.

Aside from him outplaying LaFell in 2010, and I might be wrong here, but wasn't Gettis penciled as the #2 over LaFell going into both 2011 and 2012 before the injuries?  The guy hasn't had much of a chance to show anyone anything, but damn, he's looked impressive (to me at least) every time he's had an opportunity.

Now before I get lynched I'm not saying he's better than LaFell.  LaFell is a proven commodity over the last couple of seasons while Gettis has a small - albeit impressive - sample size.  But let's not act like Gettis is some scrub that just disappeared after a good rookie season.  The guy has just been unlucky and injured.

I'm rooting for both of them believe it or not.
