DeAngelo Williams, the BEST RB in Panthers History........

I don't understand how it was hoopla considring the time it was said. 2002 he was injured. 2003 he played great sharing time with Davis. 2004 he was injured.

2005 was the only time during that period where you can make that argument. And it's not like it was with the best of o-lines. Williams was in his first year and couldnt be trusted blocking.

Everybody on here has underrated/overrated more then a couple players and been wrong. Espeically foster

Actually we have no real clue how bad our o-line has been since 2003 up until last season, because Deshaun Foster is an absolutely terrible running back.

And lol @ the 2 years he sustained season-ending injuries not counting.

But yes, his 429 yards and 3.8 ypc average in 2003, almost a full yard less than what David averaged, was a great season. You really derailed my idea that Williams could/should have started over him.

I realize this too, so it does take away from the "wow" factor.

However, being a team thats going on 20 years old, and for him to break about every record in his short time is good to see.

I hope he sticks around for a long time.

He has HOF potential if he keeps it up!

Did someone just say HOF?

Hahahaha come on now, he had an amazing year last year but give it just a little more time before even bringing HOF up...

Are you implying that it is Jonathan Stewart, who is infact the greatest RB in Panther history?

If things shake out the way I hope they will #1 and #2 are currently on the roster. In fact I do believe as long as they both along with the line stay healthy they will be there in a couple of years. Sadly there's a decision coming in 2011.

I can't imagine losing one of them but it's a reality we will probably have to face.

As much as I love D will, I think the organization moves forward with Stewart as the number one guy if it comes down to a "one or the other" scenario.

You may very well be right, but all things being equal it could come down to the first guy at the table. I hate to bring it up , but it could be a Morgan vs Spoon situation, and in that scenario,Williams wins.

If Deangelo turns out to be a bonafied stud (which I believe he could) the decision will be made, and we'll be happy. If Stewart surpasses him, the same goes in the other direction.

That's one way of looking at it... I'm thinking Stewart mainly because he's 4 years younger and we used the 13th overall pick on him.

Being the number 2 guy his first few years might make his price tag lower as well.

That's why as much as I hated to do it I brought up Morgan vs Spoon. I hope/don't think the situation will be the same, but Spoon was the more logical choice all be it at a different position.

Unless a new deal is done (I hope it's in the works) Williams will come to the table first. If things work out he'll be looking to be well paid, if he's produced in a big way he'll get his money and Stewart will be on the outside. You just don't let a stud RB go, no matter who's in the wings.

It's a unique situation, I can't think of a comparison, what team has ever had two first round RB's three years apart on the roster?
