Eagles and Gamplanning...

Recommended Posts

I just hope this team doesn't need wake up calls during the regular season. If so, Rivera can start packing his bags. This team eerily reminds me of The Chargers from a few years ago.

I think that is what Rivera was talking about when he addressed distractions. With how they regulate padded practices now Rivera can do very little to solve that problem. Its up to the team and there want to be better.

I know we didnt game plan but when you cant execute anything you are trying to do because the opposing team is blitzing every play, you throw a screen pass occasionally to keep them honest. That isn't trickery thats just common freaking sense.

Unless you haven't installed all your screen packages because you haven't installed all the offense.  We ran a few screens last night.  Just not all the ones we will.

Plus running screens to take advantage of the blitz is game planning and we didn't do much of that.   This is the preseason.

okay so we didnt gameplan, whatever.  what's the excuse for not executing?  eagles did both

They were home on a somewhat short week which always advantages the home team.  Their defense got their butts handed to them last week so they were more motivated last night (like we will be next game).  Third we were more interested in seeing everyone play, you could tell Philly was more interested in winning the game with all the blitzs and trick plays.

they actually used a good opportunity to practice their game, i have no idea what we were doing.

Rookie former college coaches coaching their first preseason are going to pull out the stops.  There has been a huge speculation that Kelly's system won't work in the NFL.  He is under tremendous pressure to prove them wrong and win the fans in Philly so he is working hard to show everyone his system works.  So far he is right.  But lets not assume they will play this well when the regular season starts.  I expect to see them come back down to earth once the regular season starts and have players burned out or hurt by week 14.

i dont care about the eagles, i care about the panthers. we'll chalk it up to a disinterested, ho-hum futile attempt to not show every other team our hand this season.

plus it was a preseason game where we don't have our act together or our full game plan installed where our starters are not even all set.  This is why we have a preseason.  We are not ready to play a regular season game yet.  Hopefully in a few weeks we will.

i would figure we would have preseason to practice against real competition for what we will be doing in the year.  no, we are not ready for regular season.  not sure if that is on Ron or what, for our sake, hopefully that changes quick.  one would think, when these guys fasten their chin straps, and under the lights, play their hardest regardless.  maybe they can just turn the switch on when they want, i know good teams can, not sure about 7-9 teams.
