Inspiring Speech By Ashton Kutcher

First of all, he's addressing a crowd of Beverly Hills, silver spoon-fed, trust fund babies who have no idea what he's talking about nor could they care any less.

Second, it's the Teen Choice Awards... enough said.

Third, he couldn't hold Charlie Sheen's used condom wrapper on "Two and a Half Men."

He made valid points, just not to the right audience.

I actually attended two years ago with my niece who has done a few movies and the majority of the crowd are tourists and people from surrounding LA community which is made of many not so wealthy neighborhoods. Also it is being broadcast to millions of teens around the US and other countries and his points speak directly to that age group. Not sure what the issue is which it being teen choice awards, it's one of the few awards strictly chosen according to public, not a bunch of stuffy critics, so I has broad appeal.

It's held at the Gibson in Universal City, which I'm very familiar with. The "surrounding communities" include Hollywood, North Hollywood, Studio City, Sherman Oaks... among the most expensive LA communities, in other words.

Again, they're teenagers (not the 16-19 year olds, either; more like the 13-15 age group). "One of the few awards strictly chosen according to public..." translated means that same 13-15 age group did the voting. And the Academy Awards are voted on by the SAG, which are fellow actors, by the way.

Let's not forget, it's network television, which grows increasingly irrelevant with each passing season.

It was the perfect place for just such a speech. He could have been all about himself but instead took a moment to use a platform to say something positive. I prefer what he said over a celeb preaching at me about the plight of others when they are the 1%er's themselves.
