Coach Rivera Not Losing Sleep Over Job Security. Just Doing His Best

To everyone saying they want to see Ron's decision-making change, I distinctly recall him calling for a 4th down run against Atlanta (which Cam converted) and killing the Philadelphia game with a designed bootleg to Tolbert rather than giving Philadelphia the ball back. It came late in the year but those were against the previous tenor of his decision making.

If Ron Rivera becomes a great head coach he will be paving his own way. I don't see many similarities between him and all the other great coaches of this generation. I think he is excellent at Xs and Os. We really overachieved with the lack of talent at DT, CB, and Safety last season. My biggest knock is those late game decisions. He spends too much time reading historical statistics on when to punt and when to go for it. He needs to survey the battlefield and make a call based on what he sees in front of him.

I honestly think Rivera is a good coach with the chance to be very good. The players love him & seem like their willing to put it all on the line for him every game. He's learning from his mistakes & is being completely honest about his mistakes which shows what a high character person he is. He inherited a shitty team didn't even get a offseason. Been dealing with cap hell so couldn't bring in quality players the previous yrs, not to mention he hasn't had a season with all of his draft picks yet, to go along with injury prone players. I mean seriously he's not doing that bad & next yr when we draft 2 Tackles we should be set then their no excuses. Unless we loose 5 games & less I say we keep him another yr . Are OLine could really suck this yr which means Cam probably will turn the ball over a lot from forcing things.

Anything less than a playoff win and I think a change should be made. It's going to be hard for Gettleman to fire him though. The defense will be top 5 and Rivera will get a lot of credit for that. Shula and the offense will be the scapegoat if we end up 8-8 or 9-7.

In a way that isn't fair to Cam and Shula with that patchwork offensive right guard. Bell is already an average at best tackle. We need a solid guard to help solidify the right side. I hope G Williams can play consistent and fix his lapses.

So we need a guard and a tackle for depth.

I agree he was waaaaaay to conservative. That shower quote makes me feel better though. If he realizes we lost games because of 1 yard he realizes we should have went for some of those first downs.

Hopefully there is a WR selected with those tackles
