So...2 games...2 heartbreaking losses.  We all know the Panthers could be 2-0.  I blamed the first game more on player mistakes.  The 2nd game, IMO is all on RR.

Several years ago I was one of the first to believe Foxy was the problem with his playing not to lose approach (and I took a lot of grief for that) [Foxy lost a playoff game last year with the Broncos with that approach...made me smile.] I was among those who believed that Rivera should be replaced after last year.  Since he was not, and we have a new GM who is a football guy,  I was behind him 100%.  No one wanted Ron to succeed more than me.  I really hoped he had evolved as a coach and was among those that Gettlemen was going to help be better. Ron certainly said all the right things and seemed humble. He also seems like a quality human being. I wanted this to be his year.

I do not care that RR is stoic on the sidelines. What I care about is his decision making.  The Buffalo game magnified the fact that nothing has changed.

Ron has one more game. I am ready to give up on him but circumstances dictate 1 more chance.  If he has any ability to adjust it has to happen now.  The Giants are a desperate team, known for slow starts and somehow pulling it together.  Rivera's team needs to play to win for 4 quarters.  Period. Otherwise, IMO the Panthers need to move on.

Gettlemen has 1 film study to make a head coach out of Ron.

Let's go....no fear.  Leave nothing on the field. Play the damn game to win.

You are giving him one more game? No one was an ardent supporter of Ron than I was. Even after the loss to the shehawks, I wanted him to get some time, but the loss to the bills is unacceptable. I mean with 6 seconds on the clock in such a crucial situation, why did he not call a timeout to

a. Kill the momentum

b. Make sure the defense was prepared for any of the possible formations the Bills were going to play.

That alone tells me that he is not one who can think under pressure. I'm not saying he's not smart cos clearly he is but when it's crunch time, he folds.

The FO has given him 1 more game.  I am assuming the bye week might be interesting.  But as long as he is here....he has another chance.  Do I think it is likely he will make major changes?  No...but because I want to see the Panthers at their best Sun...all I can do is hope.

Always much respect for LP.

Three  simple sayings from ex-coaches:

1.  Herm Edwards,  'you play to win the game'

2.  Bill Parcells, 'you are what your record says you are.'

3.  Everybody's favorite, Mora  'Playoffs, Playoffs, don't talk to me about playoffs, I'm just trying to win the game'.

I will be there Sunday as I have for 12 years, will be excited and hope for a win, cheer for a win. drive from Raleigh to see a win and drive back home to Raleigh listening to the Panthers Radio Network...(I live in Bley's old neighborhood, quite a little drive).

It will be as it is and regardless of the outcome, I will be back for more Oct 21st and so on.  That is what fans do and consider myself blessed to be able to do something that many dream of doing and can't....it might be my last year...I would just like to see wins at home and that they look like they can run a play.

As far as RR goes, Richardson didn't fire any coach  until year's end.  I suspect this will be the same.

Yeah that's been driving me crazy too. You've got a makeshift secondary playing in a super tense situation at a lightning pace. Call a freakin timeout and talk it over--that's called "coaching."

Making matters worse, Rivera himself said in his interview that the play was a result of "people playing on the same side of the field together for the first time." If you're a head coach, you have to do something about that--you don't want those guys scrambling to figure out what there supposed to do. Call a timeout.

OP;

I think it's really siilly to be all in on anything that Ron Rivera is selling. Team was dead in the water last winter when they decided to retain him. Things haven't gone any different then I expected and infact perhaps a little worse.

These are the worst of times. This team is done. We will finish 7-9 again.
