Your "low point" as a Panthers fan

Even though that game was a drag, we'd been battered at that point walking into Qwest field, where the Seahawks never lost. They had the best record in the conference that year, and even though we got beat pretty good, I still came away from it thinking how good the next year would be once we upgraded a few positions (and we all saw how that worked out lol)

Very different from the Arizona loss where we were tied for best record in the NFC, had a first round bye, never lost at home in that season up to that point, weren't banged up anymore than any other team in the playoffs...

true. the biggest thing i realized from the '05 season, esp. the playoffs, was how devoid of weapons we really were. aside from smitty, we essentially had a lot of JAGs...at least at that point in their careers.

To be honest the "Dark Times" we have experienced since 2008 have educated the fanbase a great deal.

This.

Anything for the first decade was a new franchise and we got a pass. I was out of the country pretty much from 2000 to 2009. Had the NFL package but it didn't sting as much when you are in a different country. Still stung.

I have no issues with the Kasay OB kick. It happens and he is one of our best players ever. We were in the superbowl until the end and I would take that again this year in a second.

In 2009 I made a special trip back to the US just to buy tickets. Overpaid to get the PSLs I had always wanted. West end-zone low. The guy worked for the panthers and walked me down to the seats in the summer and gave me a little tour. Happy as a clam. The loss to AZ sucked but it seemed like the future was bright.

Then crap went all to hell for the last 4 years. I think the biggest low point is not a single game. Do any of you remember the initial season when we went to SF? We were stretching pregame and the niners players were crossing midfield to talk poo. We apparently sat quietly, smiled and then took a victory out of there like champs. We were the expansion team and they were the annual deep playoff team. That quiet confidence defined us by my standards. For the record we seem like that again this year. A few silly cam stories but the media is elsewhere and we are quietly improving.

The 2009-2013 era has been anything but that. Our owner has been labeled a fool. We have looked terrible. Our stories have been more about Hurney/Fox/JR politics than anything.

But my low point was the Giants game last year. Finally a glimpse of hope and a primetime game and we look like fools.

As other have said, losses to SEA and NYG at home and I think we will find a new low of the franchise.

It's like when you play mortal kombat. The Seahawks just beat us because they were a better team, but they didn't lay a fatality upon us.

The cardinals literally ripped our heads off in the most violent way possible and poo down our necks as if they were Shao Kahn abusing bath salts. They pillaged the team, the stadium, the fanbase's morale, everything.

For me, it's definitely the playoff game against the Cardinals.  I can remember walking through Hanes mall in Winston that evening, seeing everybody in the mall in their Panther gear.  I was excited, and just knew we were going to win.  Then Jake's implosion happened, and man that literally broke my heart. I never knew a sports team could control my emotions, like the Panthers did/do.  I remember, I was going to A&T at the time, and driving back to campus.  Half the damn campus is from the DMV area, and I remember soon as I got back on campus they let me have it.  I almost got in numerous fights that night...I just didn't want to hear the trash talk.  That offseason was horrible.  I remember there was a .gif circulating of that Jake implosion, and when I saw it, I couldn't even say anything.  They sign Jake to an extension, and then we go and Jake does damn near the same thing against the Eagles.  I was mad at Jake, Hurney, JR, the whole damn organization.

That 2010 season was bad, as well.  I remember I stopped watching the games about halfway through the season.  The other team would kick a FG and be up 3-0, and I knew it was over.

I'm surprised the 2006 season doesn't come up more. Before the season we were a consensus super bowl contender and we're so inconsistent it was frustrating. We would look like the class of the league one week then the next week look like a bottom feeder. I remember being so frustrated that game against the Vikings where we had the game won and then on a punt return Fox called for some backwards pass garbage and we lost the ball and eventually lost the game in OT

because looking back, deep down fans everywhere realize it was the MO for the team..  They still battle with being optimistic vs pessimistic for that very reason.

1-15 season actually a high point for me as a fan believe or not. Went to the saints game at home, good game, I was like 10, my first ever panthers game, with my grandmother who really got me into the Panthers. Come 30 years from now, I'll still be proud I can say "My team may have been 1-15, but I still went to a game with my grandma". Idc that we lose, I won't forsake this franchise.

Low points are two for me. Adam making that kick against us, costing us the super bowl. We could have a Lombardi. It kills me to know we were that close. We've come nowhere near as close since (and now Aints and Bucs have Tropheys, but we don't).

And the second is kind of a two part - the start last season, I had my hopes up way too much for the squad and the cherry was Nakamura getting Roddy White. I could not believe we gave up like 60 yards in just one play. And to see that smug Ryan tell us to GT*O his field and commentators pat him on the back for doing so while spit on Cam..... ugh I hate the failcons.

2010 I was knee deep in college and didn't have any way to watch the Panthers, so it was all whatever.

Cardinals playoff game for sure. That was the beginning of what has essentially been a rebuilding process in many ways. Certainly the end of the Jake Delhomme at QB era. It was as much that it came so suddenly at a time when most of us felt we could legitimately be headed to the Super Bowl.

For the last game of the 2001 season, we played the Patriots for our last game of the season and it was at home. We had lost 14 in a row. My buddy and I decided not to tailgate as it was freezing rain and depression, so we went to the old South End Brewery early in an effort to get lubed up and make the best of the day. Of course we found out that arriving at a bar at 10AM on a Sunday was not a good idea as they could not make us Bloody Marys until noon. So we had to drink some tomato juice and listen to an obnoxious Pats fan next to us at the bar telling us all about his team. Utter awfulness.

BUT

At the game we decided that we were the hardcore fans. And someday we were going to the Super Bowl, when we could say that we were there for the worst times, not just the best. Ended up finding a group of people as into it as we were, and suddenly the gameday experience was not based solely on wins or losses, but the friends we made, the food we cooked, the whole atmosphere. Met my wife at that tailgate and have a lot of new friends for life.

And we made it to the Super Bowl.

Lesson: You can't appreciate the good times unless you get through the bad times, and occasionally the bad times lead to great things.

Instead of attending my h.s winter formal with my gf I stayed home and watched the Cards vs Panthers playoff gm. Definitely my low point as a fan because I expected us to make a deep playoff run, we didn't even make the game close. Then i had to go back to school and eat crow since I talked the Panthers up so much to my fiends.  It was also the beginning of the end my with my gf. She never got over me ditching her to watch a football gm.

I'm a newcomer to NFL fandom so my sample size is limited, but one that sticks in my mind is the Atl game last year when we lost in the dying minutes. I was in a Chilis (somewhat very intoxicated) and was talking poo the whole game, then saw matt ryan do work.
