Your "low point" as a Panthers fan

When I spent 3,000 to go to my first and only game at BOA from Los Angeles and they laid a stinker against the Eagles in the season opener in 2009. If I had known that Delhomme would throw 4 picks and watch Josh McCown and Matt Moore enter the same game I would just spent that money somewhere else.

I couldn't even tell you which year this was. I think we were playing the Saints. So a Saints player is running down field for a Touchdown with very little time on the clock. Someone strips the football and recovers it at like the 3 yard line. Their momentum causes them to slide into the end zone and out of bounds. It's ruled a safety and we lose the game.

The 05' Seattle playoff loss needs to be mentioned. We obliterated the Giants and Bears and that was one of the biggest highs in Panthers history. then Seattle had four to even five guys covering Smitty, we had a core of losers behind him, and were down to starting backup FB's at the RB position.

Nick Goings and Jamal Robertson for the win!!!

2010 was low but after awhile it became a high getting the #1 pick.  So I'm throwing that out.  The AZ playoff game was a huge dissapointment but the fact that its was one of the most fun season's I've ever experienced takes it out of the equation too.

My all-time lowest moment personnaly was the NFC Championship loss to the Seahags in '05.

This was one of my favorite teams.  It wasn't the best team but Smitty was unstoppable, Jake was on fire and the running game was clicking all season.  The defense was salty and made oposing teams worry about us.  This was redemption from our Super Bowl hangover and losing Smitty in week one the previous year.

Then it happened.  Nick Goings got knocked out, zero help from the other wideouts and Smitty gets quad coverage the whole game.  Jake throws a pick to Lofa Tatopu the wind is knocked out of us, Smitty is frustrated, Jake is rattled, we have grocery boys carrying the ball and the Defense is exhausted.

It was like watching your dog getting hit by a car.  This whole beautiful season getting curb stomped by a team we all knew we could beat at full strength.  That was our opportunity and it was taken away by untimely injuries to key pieces and lack of talent in others.  I wake up still in cold sweats thinking about that awfull game and what could have been.

Superbowl was tough, but I was proud of the team that we got that far as a young franchise.

Seattle loss was tough as well, but we were so banged up I wasn't too upset, however I think that we could have won the SB had we gotten there.

The absolute worst for me was the Arizona game.  I was already so terribly frustrated with the FO, and the seemingly rudderless boat that we were riding....honestly I can't even remember how awful that was, and knowing that it was going to get worse.

Thank god Hurney is gone.

We would have beaten the Steelers. And after Pittsburg won the SB, all of their undercover fan base came out of the woodwork, and they still haven't left.

My low point was a pretty long stretch. '09 and '10. I was really hoping they would follow up the  '08 with another good one, but it got ugly quick and never got better. Then in 10 we figured out right away that neither Matt Moore or Jimmy Clausen could play QB in this league. Our team just looked terrible; not even nfl worthy. The future looked terrible to.

Delhomme's birthday bust was the worst moment in Panther history.  I think what makes it so hard is that the team was Super Bowl bound and had been playing great, Jake included. I've never seen another game in any sport where one player choked to that extent and single-handedly sabotaged his team.

As much as the Super Bowl loss hurt, at least the team played their asses off. Against the Cards the team and fans could only watch powerlessly as Delhomme disintegrated on national television.

Stick through the tough times so the good times will be sweeter...I'd rather take my lumps now. I swear it's gonna be weird when the "elite" teams now are bottom of the barrel in a number of years.

I hate when people act like we are destined to never do anything. There was a time when the raiders and rams were the teams to beat while the patriots were a laughing stock.

I'm just trying to lighten up this depressing thread :)

One moment that I don't think anyone brought up is the '09 mid-season game vs. the Jets. (I believe that was jake's last start. Never in my life have i seen 2 teams look as pathetic and sad as I did that day. That game remains as one of the only panther games i've EVER turned off mid-game and refused to watch
