Your "low point" as a Panthers fan

Before the 07 season started I bought tickets to the saints game in week 12. Well Jake went down with that elbow injury in week 3 and Carr ended up starting. He got booed off the field with chants of "we want Moore!". Moore came in and sucked while Brees and Colston destroyed us. No touchdowns for Carolina that game with a final score of about 35-6 or something. I remember alot of jawing to and from Saints fans which eventually turned into extremely classy Katrina remarks. It was overall a dissapointing experience.

For me it was the 2008 home playoff loss to the Cards followed by Peppers announcing that he wanted out of Carolina a week later.

It was clear to me at that point that the window had closed and we would start rebuilding...

yeah, i forgot about the whole peppers crap. walking out of the game and pretty much saying he didn't want to be here anymore.

the issue i had was that i didn't believe that this was an organization that knew how to rebuild.

they may have known at one time, but hurney wasn't new blood when he was handed the GM job. he had been doing most of the job for several years here.

and fox seemed more committed to the old guys and had said he didn't like grooming new QBs...that he was more interested in keeping jake at starter or finding another old throw away to fill jakes shoes. he's not a forward thinking coach.

and JR...i didn't know where his heart was. for all i knew it was where fox/hurney was.

the need had been there to start preparing for the next era, but the leadership seemed very change-adverse. that's not a good combo. when time came for change to be made and the rebuilding to start they pretty much f*cked the whole thing up which led to 2010. they wanted to make the changes gradually when the time had come to just blow the whole thing up and start over.

hiring accorsi was the first sign that they were really interested in doing things right in many years.

I think we ALL can agree one one thing, the "low point" is not now. We can have our differences of opinions about players and philosophies. We can bicker and argue on this forum (I'm as guilty as anyone), but I think all of us Panthers fans have something right now that we haven't had in quite a while. Optimism. And frankly, it feels pretty good.

My low point was the 2010 season, it was worse then when we went 1-15. The Superbowl, still unimaginably stings today. The Seattle NFC championship game was just football.. The 2008 Cards game was just an old QB that's injuries had finally caught up with him. But, nothing is a *low point* like watching Jimmy Clausen throw balls at the feet of his receivers.

Worst moment "on the field" was the final seconds of our Super Bowl although the horrible sinking feeling began when Kasay kicked it out of bounds.

Worst moment "off the field" was when I heard Sam Mills had passed.

Most embarrassing moment was and still is the Rae Carruth debacle. Followed by the steroids scandal.

2010. The Jimmy year. When he would get sacked on 4th and whatever w/o even attempting to pass it, then I gave up. I actually quit watching games. I would watch games during 1997, Robo-Capers (for anyone who remembers the Czaban and Penner show), watched and went to games in 2001 and those were hilariously bad but I never quit watching, never quit being a fan.
