Question for Liverpool fans....Does Suarez's new contract have a 70m pound release clause? I saw something in the....(Daily Star I think it was) saying RM was planning to trigger the 70m release clause in his contract this Summer, and couldn't believe they would put a release in the contract that is so low. Does the release go up if Liverpool qualifies for CL?

Not asking because I think RM will sign Suarez this Summer mind you (that opportunity has come and gone), just asking because the number seemed extremely low to me.

I'm not a Liverpool fan but Suarez wanted out last year and he had no release clause so he inked a new deal with some where around £75m release clause. It's not a small fee, it's near record breaking fee but for teams like RM its nothing. RM will unload Benzima and Di Maria this summer and will likely get Suarez. Suarez to RM is a mutual interest so there's a big chance for it to happen.

What's going around is that if Liverpool fail to qualify for Champions League, that opens up the £70m release clause, which is just shy of Gareth Bale's fee. If we fail to qualify and someone offers the £70m, we have to let him walk. Now, if we do qualify for UCL and he wants to leave, I believe Liverpool can say no to his request, much as they did this summer.

That makes a bit of sense then. It just feels like 70m is a little low to me. I realize it's close to a world record fee, but when he signed the deal he was playing out of his mind. Feel like they probably could have driven that release clause up a bit, but maybe that's just me.

You would think so. While he has gone on a dry spell as far as scoring goes, he still creates for everyone around him as well. He's 1 assist behind the league leaders Gerrard and Rooney as well as on top of the Premier League in goals. That combination is pretty lethal and probably deserved of a higher transfer fee.

I don't see much in upsets, except for maybe the underdog coming away with a draw or a 1-goal advantage in the first leg. I think the favorites move on in most match-ups.

I guess AC could beat Atletico and Leverkusen could possibly give PSG something, but I don't see a lot in either of those. I know a lot of people will have their eyes on Olympiacos-Manure. If Manure manage to get knocked out by Olympiacos, that might do it for Moyes.

I think Man City have the tools to beat Barcelona, though I don't consider that much of an upset. If I were to bet, I'd pick Barcelona moving on. Hope it's City though.

Yeah, I pretty much agree.  I to do not see many upsets.  I cannot see Olympiacos pulling the upset.  I would love to see it but doubt it happens.

The one side I could see pulling a stunner is Galatasaray, not that I would bet on it.  The only other possibility I see is Leverkusen but I agree that the favorites will be mostly unchallenged.

Barca/City is obviously the best match-up and I agree, a City victory is not really an upset.

I would love to see Olympiacos take United down, but I agree: I don't think it can be done.

Galatasaray could possibly pull an upset. They did make the quarter-finals last year. With Chelsea, you know it's probably going to be a low-scoring match, so there is always a possibility of one breakthrough changing the landscape.

I'm excited to watch Barca/City. It's supposedly going to be cold and rainy at the Etihad tonight.
