Notice the media slowly building Cam up?

They hate on cam because cam plays for the Carolina Panthers not because cam is cam .

Opposite. They hate on Cam bc he is Cam. To date, there has been college player to play a season under the microscope Newton did at Aubrun.

Nationally, no one has ever had a reason to give a poo about Carolina unless they are making a playoff run. Cam being Cam is why a team that doesn't win....is talked about on all the sports shows and every writer has to give his 2 cents

there is a difference between a qb and a wr, rb, cb, or any other player. That should be noted.

I like Cam's fun loving nature. I loved playing sports around people like that because I think it is good for the team because it provides a stress reducer for those around those kinds of people. He makes other people feel comfortable. That will certainly benefit in the playoffs because it will keep everybody loose but focused.

Some things he does rubs me the wrong way, doesn't mean i'm using a double standard or am Cam hater. It is just my opinion.

jtm is wrong bringing up the NY giants game. A lot of people dont know, but i read an article where a NY giants fan was sitting around that area and said all the kids were screaming for Cam to do the Superman, he obliged. And we were only down by two scores.

The national media is tremendously desperate for Cam to break out big.  Regardless of what you believe the media thinks of Cam, they really, really want him to succeed because he is interesting and would be a perpetual story.  He's so polarizing that they can make a story out of him anytime they want without putting in much effort.  He just needs to succeed enough for people to care and justify the hype.

Heck, they are so desperate for someone they can turn into a story that they can't get enough of The Golden Calf of Bristol, even though he's not even remotely a legitimate NFL player.  So, now they've turned RGIII into the hero, but need a villain, and that's Cam.  Heck, it's already set up perfectly; unless you're a Carolina or Auburn fan, chances are you hate Cam (mostly through the demonizing of the media).

After all, who else do they have that people care about (positively or negatively)?  Ryan and Luck are boring, Brady, Brees, and Manning, are all at the end of their careers, Rodgers has the talent and is likable, but really too much like the guy that might work in the cubicle next to you.  Now Kaepernick is interesting, and someone the media is trying really hard to build up, but he does not have much history, so has a lot of ground to make up in the fan interest category.  So Cam's the guy they want...a ready-made villain and the guy fans love to hate.

I dont mind Cam being a villian, i have been embracing it for a while now. And unlike the movies the villians win in the NFL, Tom Brady has been somewhat of a villian to most people and he has 3 rings and Big Ben has rings too. Evil wins in the NFL. :D

building him up...or has he changed in a more positive direction?

and before anyone blows their top assuming i'm implying newton is/was evil incarnate...you can be good and still become more positive.

Great point. I have said before that I think Cam has turned the corner. His ability has never been questioned, just the maturity and leadership skills. If those two things continue to ascend, he may just become a media darling.

And this I do not get. A front page story in today's USAToday sports section is about RG3. It says he's never had a drop of alcohol and his favorite food is his wife's quesadilla casserole. Who cares? I don't understand all the love this guy and the golden calf gets. I can't wait for RG3 to do a massive faceplant just like the Calf has. Although, some people actually think the Calf can still play QB in this league. Except maybe Belicheat, who won't even say if he expects the Calf to make the final roster.
