Better panther peppers or Jenkins?

For the most part that's what he was. Yes he got few sack here and there and was a pro bowl defensive tackle. Do you really think his resume measures up favorably to peppers?

Jenkins? Just a run stuffer?

Jenkins had a tremendous first step when attacking....he was far from a one dimensional DT who stumbled into sacks

Resume comparison is different than who was the best on their peak. Sterling Sharpe's resume isn't as good as a lot of WRs. Overall, I think Pep was better.... But a healthy, in shape, motivated Jenkins was right on Pep's heels

Peppers has career wise been the best DE since he entered the league, yeah there's a lot of butt hurt around here since he left which is why this thread is kinda funny. But Peppers is going to be HoF his stats are just too good and he has too many probowls to not be.

Just facts bro live with it, accept it

He'll have to wait an awful long time behind Kraken, C-Money and StarLeto with their 4 superbowl rings.

If Jenkins stayed in his prime for a prolonged period of time this would be a very good debate because he'd probably be looked at very similarly to Warren Sapp.  Jenkins was explosive as hell and moved very well for a man his size.  Unfortunately 2-3 great years does not make a great career.  He played well for the jets after leaving here, but he wasn't the same.  He was still injury prone, didn't move so well and basically became a guy to occupy blocks.

Would rather have Peppers.  Curious to see if Pep decides to retire as a Panther, I think that'd be pretty cool.

I had always thought Jenkins was overrated. Granted, there were also times I considered Pep overrated too, but not as much as Mr Kris Jenkins. He was good, but he's not the best of the past decade or anything like that. Peppers, on the other hand, very well may be the best DE of the 2000's. Jason Taylor, Dwight Freeney, Julius Peppers?

Well, for those who are clueless as to what brought on this debate and assume it's Peppers hate that has clouded my judgement, just stop now. This debate originated in another thread with the OP acting similarly to a Peppers groupie. I dislike Peppers but I'm no idiot. I'm fully aware of what he's done and what's capable of as a DE. The question was never who was better. Instead, it was who I'd take to start my defense. It may be the difference between an Aldon Smith breaking the sack record or having an average season.

I'd take a Ngata over a M. Williams. That's my line of thinking. Always has been, always will be.

And the only reason I wouldn't call you crazy for that is because ngata can actually play defensive end. Big difference in peppers groupie and stating the obvious. Thanks for playing.

Would you take Ngata over Peppers, or say Reggie White?

I just wanted to take a moment to reflect and engage the huddle in a serious debate. I recently got flamed and called a "nutthugger" for say peppers was a better player than kris jenkins. To me it seemed obvious that peppers has a shot at the hall of fame and probably one of the most feared pass rushers ever. Not to say Jenkins wasn't good but, that's just it were comparing a pro bowler to a potential hall of famer. I just wanted to get a group consensus of what the huddle thought. What say you...

No one denies how good peppers was the problem is we all know he could have been even more than he was if he had the attitude and motor as say... The Kraken.

I called you out because you called Jenkins a one dimensional run stuffer which isn't true the man was an unstoppable force in 2002 and 2003 he couldn't be blocked and had to be doubled and tripled and teams still couldn't run the ball on us, mind you this was back when peppers him self was pretty bad at stopping the run.

Honestly a great DT does more for your overall defense than a great DE because with the push they get in the middle they make the DEs around them better because the QB can't step up not to mention they take away the threat of the inside run and that can force an offense to be one dimensional.

That honor goes to Rod Coleman who had 285 tackles, 61 sacks, 29 passes defended, 26 tackles for a loss, 9 forced fumbles, 1 interception, and 1 touchdown in a seven year span.

What you really forget is, that Rod was as shitty as they come when defending the run.

Surely Peppers is the best player of him and Jenkins. But when Jenkins was peaking he was just as good as Peppers. Sadly he was not peaking very long.

Jenkins is by a large margin the best DT who have ever played i Charlotte.
