Gettis got his write-up, now AE gets his, by Person.

Man, are we in the Twilight Zone? Is it snowing in Hell? Is it raining in the sunshine (which would prompt my grandma to say that "The Devil is beating his wife")?  AE gets a positive write-up after an even longer span than it took for Gettis to get one.  The OTA, camp, and the first preseason game have been full of surprises.

“I feel like I’m a guy that can be counted on this year, unlike the past three years,” he said. “I felt like I made the roster, but at the same time I wasn’t being accountable.”

Well, there seems to be something behind the words this year.  Many panthers fans did wonder why Armanti kept making the team. Now it seems that that question has been answered. Moreover, many of us have heard that AE seems to always have a "good camp", but this year his camp has been exceptional according to all parties involved.

“Armanti has accepted the challenge with his role increasing, especially with the No. 1 guys. He didn’t even miss a step,” quarterback Cam Newton said. “I call him the silent assassin. He comes in, doesn’t say much and he’s hard-working, whether it’s blocking (or) on the receiving end. He’s always a team player."

And every Silent Assassin has an expert teacher. And the wise Ricky Proehl has kept his eye on Edwards' development, and apparently came into the organization with a plan not to let an athletically gifted Edwards just fall by the wayside.

It was frustrating at times because of us not giving him the opportunities to grow as a receiver,” Proehl said. “That’s all I wanted to do when I got the position is just teach him, to where his athleticism could come out.”

Edwards said Proehl has worked more closely with him than his previous position coaches.

“We’re in the NFL,” Edwards said. “Most coaches, they’re working with what they can work with. It’s not like high school where somebody’s sitting there to help you step by step. That’s what Ricky Proehl’s been doing. He’s tried to do the extra coaching after practice or in the film room. He’s been very helpful."

And, according to Coach Proehl, Brandon LaFell has been helpful to AE as well.

Proehl said LaFell has been a role model for Edwards in the weight room, helping Edwards recognize the importance of getting bigger and stronger to keep from getting knocked off his routes.

Plenty of Huddlers used to make jokes about AE, but it seems that the last joke will be on them. But, of course this isn't a bad thing. Hopefully we'll all be smiling not only at the start of the season if AE makes the team, but after the season when AE has proven that he has what it takes to consistently produce as an NFL receiver on the field.

I knew the moment we drafted him he would be a superstar and I know most of the Huddle believed the same.

I can't say that "most"  of the Huddle believed it then, and I can't even say that "most" believe that he will be a "superstar" now.  But to your point, that seems like lifetimes ago.  I can't tell you how many patronizing remarks I have seen over the years since it became painfully obvious (and I say "painfully" because most of us had to endure the stupidity) that he was not going to be an overnight wonder.  People obviously forgot---if they ever knew--that AE was truly the epitome of a developmental player.

At least, for the moment, we don't have to be subject to the ignorance, and I hope that it stays that way. It would be nice if he can truly become a superstar WR in this league---not only for us, but because he really seems like a really humble, hardworking, nice guy that can attain the superstar status on the pro level, that he once had at the collegiate level.  That would make for a great story.  Even if he is just good to serviceable, he has still beaten the odds, and the story is still great.
