"Gettis back in the game" by Stickland @ panthers.com

I don't much care who steps up in the WR receiving corps as long as it's someone not named Smith or LaFell.

This whole argument is stupid. We want any of our WRs to do well and having any of them do well would be awesome.

I'm glad somebody gets it. As a fan of this team I want LaFell, Gettis, Edwards and whoever else to step it up. I want them all to show improvement and the ability to contribute.

Gettis had three catches against the Bears' 3rd stringers! ZOMG gais he is the next Dez Bryant and is running circles around receivers in camp.

Only on The Huddle

He had nothing last pre-season. This coupled with what the coach said is a good sign.

"Let me be a dickhead for no reason"!! "While not being factually correct"

Since 2 of his catches happened in the 2nd Qrt. That means 2nd stringers were in the game.

Only on the huddle where being a smart ass is more important then being accurate.

People taking this shitty attitude toward our players remind me of the petty fugs who root for the country to fail because another political party is in power.

the huddle is quick to anoint hall-of-famers and decry legendary busts in the infancy of their career. knee-jerk, emotionally-based, substanceless opinions on david gettis should not come as a surprise to anyone, good or bad. you will always have your trucatzfans insisting that jesus will make them catch all the ballz and become GOAT and you will always have your CRAs dropping steaming ass nuggets all over every good omen or positive report.

realistically, gettis now has his best shot to contribute to the team and show what he can do. if he makes the team this year and produces i think he'll be around for a while. if he can't do anything worthwhile he will probably be cut at the end of the year; at some point talent ceiling and potential have to be displaced by the value of a roster spot. gettis is approaching it.

here's to hoping he blows up thursday.

If I was Hixon and I was looking at that new playbook and then looking at Ginn. . . yeah I'd be on that bike for another week too. There's plenty of time to show what he's got next week, so he's in no rush. He knows his opportunity is coming and that its gonna be make it or break it. He's got to be watching Gettis and be worried. He better show what he has or there's no way we're keeping him at the risk of watching him ride bike every other week.

AE is not the same size as these two guys. He's really competing more with himself it seems. Whether or not its worth it to have him in one of those 6 slots (Im assuming 6). Idk maybe Pilares Ginn and Adams. Its not like he's gonna seal the corner for D'Lo against Revis. He can catch, run routes with speed, and read a defense. He will be used in that role, sets that show pass is where I think we'll see him if we keep him. If Ginn learns the offense he'll be used similarly.

Gettis and Hixon on the other hand are big dudes. Shula could feature those two guys in any run or pass set. Both of those guys latch on to defenders and attack through the block. Only Smitty and LaFell maul defenders on this squad but these other two guys physicalities shouldnt be downplayed. They both have a little bit of nasty in them, Hixon probably more so than Gettis imo. . if we ever get to see it. This is the reason why guys like me are really pulling for these guys more than anyone else. They are multi dimensional receivers and I would go further but Gettis needs to show good work with his hands before going there.

. . and its not like it would be shocking if we cut one of the new guys. Receivers struggle all the time. With vets its not like the potential is there for growing leaps and bounds like there is for a rookie. You know pretty much what you got when he settles in. Hixon seems to know this and Ginn I hope is doing everything he can to catch up as well.
