I agree with your sentiment, though I think you may have went a little too far about the stick man thing (LOL). BTW, I was wondering how long the OP would take to tell someone to fug off.

There is way too much "dickheadedness" being allowed exactly like this in my opinion.  If I were a mod, I'd start giving out warnings because it is really uncalled for.  If you don't have anything really productive/entertaining to add to the conversation, then you should basically move on.  If a thread does not have substantive merit, it will slowly move down to the next page.

I read posts all the time that are made by people who understand the game less than I do and I read some posts from folks who know more football than I do--I do not slam someone for a post that is beneath me, and I do not expect others to slam me if I miss the obvious.

The trolling has gotten better, which is why I try to attack the attackers with their own medicine.  You could say that I am stooping, and I am, or picking a fight, which I am not.

I think there is an effort to prevent this kind of thing, but they could do a better job.  That is why I dealt with it, I suppose.

Notice that I only burn people in long passages.  The targets usually do not read those due to the lack of literacy modifications provided here.

There is a troublesome double standard.

It stems from the fact that many of the very posters making a deal out of this never wanted Cam drafted in the first place. Let's just call it exactly what it is. Sad truth. These people tolerate him, but pounce on a mistake.

The more I think about it, I am not sure if Davis' comment had anything to do with it.

Nah, I think that it absolutely had something to do with it, otherwise I don't think that Davis would have interrupted them at that very moment.  Like I said, it's all good. Just a difference in philosophy manifesting itself in the maturity and/or personality of the players.

If it is valid for discussion for Cam....89, 34, 69, 28, and everyone else considered a leader needs to be brought up. I may have don't it sarcastically......but bottom line is Cam is held to a comically lose/lose standard

A discussion means there are various viewpoints.  Cam is the QB-the others are not.  Cam has been criticized (whether you like it or not) for his sideline behavior.  While I think this was nothing and I like to see a happy sideline, it is a valid point to discuss.  That is all that was said.

So, since others may see it differently than you do, it is a valid discussion.  A discussion does not mean a criticism, it means there could be various perspectives.

To say this is not worth of discussion is to say that there are no other perspectives.  You say that Cam is held to a "lose/lose" standard.  If so, and it is a problem, then was the posing smart? Maybe Thomas Davis, someone closer to the situation, did not think so.   Or maybe he did not want Cam exposed to further attacks. Or maybe it was not related.  However, considering how the press has treated Cam, this event is worthy of being discussed on a discussion board.  That is not a judgement.  I hope that is clear.

The only thing TD did was tell Cam to pay attention to the guys on the field. Cam did a great job of being involved in the game while not actually playing. He had one little lapse in his game focus. Davis is just reminding Cam of how important it is to be THE guy. Nothing serious. Lets move on. BTW replay is starting now!
