Going back and watching I now realize Star was doubled almost every snap he was in. I can't wait to see the 1st team defense go full time.

 

Quite a but, and from the outset.

 

If memory serves, I don't think they doubled Short at first.  But after he started living in their backfield I think they paid him a little more attention.

All of the RBs looked really good.  I was especially impressed with Barner and Poole.  If we can keep Poole on the practice squad again this year, it really would make our super high paid RBs dispensable next season. 

 

Also, Clausen actually looked like a real QB on some of those throws.

I'd have to see the whole game to remember, but I know with the full 1st team they doubled Star from the start and Short was in the backfield constantly. Not sure if Star was in at the same time as Short later in the game but Short was doubled every time by the 2nd quarter. 

 

I'm still in shock seeing a duo of DT's that didn't get thrown back 5 yards from the snap and actually put consistent pressure on the QB. Given, it was against the Bears O-line, but imagine how scary third and long will be for teams against this defense.

I can not believe that, Jimmy Clausen looked good. Maybe that´s all the guy needed. Time on the bench to learn the system. He looked poised and actually seemed to have control of everything. Even his little run was great. Kuddos to pickles.

 

I am stoked about the defense. The offense as well, but that defense may just be a points machine and will keep us in game and even win games. These past two seasons that we lost by 7 or less will turn into wins by 7 or less points now. The chips are falling in place guys. I am feeling really good about this season.
