I heard Rucker mention this. It makes sense. A true RB like Dwill and Stewart stand to gain from working the play out in their mind prior to snap. Yes you always have to adapt but I think that some of the anticipation is eliminated when you know the rock is coming to you and you know what you have to do with it. KB is a little different. Not better, but different in the way that he likely has always been utilized this way.

It def helps DLo. I think it can help all our backs but moreso DLo. Stewart and Barner both have exp with the read option and pistol plays. We have a RB corp, that for the most part can cover both running styles and be effective. Its more about can we play to their specific strengths...

Williams isn't good in those sets. Also, it was the other way around. Cam got mad at Williams.

 

I know for a fact that he screwed it up a few times last season. Pitching it when he should have kept it, keeping it when he should have pitched it, and taking too long to make a decision. I'm hoping they have coached him up because I think we're going to run it a lot this season. We should anyway imo.

I don't think that is Cam screwing anything up....read option always runs slow with Williams vs another RB. Mesh point holding longer also bc DE wasn't crashing and still no hole to release the RB into.

Cam has ran it pretty flawlessly ever since the world began to recognize him... only time it has hiccups is when our RB who struggles at the read is in.

pitches are a different....you may be right on them. I don't like the pitch plays regardless

Since when? Stewart grinds out the steady yards out of it and it is smooth. Williams is the one who gets stuffed and slows it down.

Which is why when healthy they play Stewart more reps than Williams.

I am talking zone reads. Pitch option is a different thing

There are some videos floating around on the internet showing what went wrong with our read option, but I don't want to bother to look for them. I love our read option when we run it properly, but at the same time Cam has to improve his passing, especially late in the game. His dirt ball one hop pass into the end zone against Seattle made RR whimper "Cam" in timid frustration, but I nearly had a stroke. Hot and cold Cam is going to drive me insane.

I didn't go thru the whole thread, so I'm not sure if this was mentioned, but DeAngelo had a nice chip block on Henry Melton that knocked his ass slam to the ground and put him out the game with a concussion.
