Game Rewatch Observations

1. Barner, aside from the one fumble (not the Pickles hand off flub), looked good to me. A very promising rookie.

2. The DL did not get pushed around and did get a rush on the OL. Looked pretty good to me.

3. The WR numbers game is gonna leave someone without a job. This race is gonna get heated.

4. Chase Blackburn may have been the best addition of the offseason.

5. No injuries...Yes!

We look solid all around from 1st to 3rd string. I rewatched each in the first half a few times concentrating on each player's assignment. Physically our o-line didnt get beat much. We had defenders come in unprotected because our guards (mostly second string) were out of place. I am not the least bit worried about cam's pick.. It happens. I mostly payed attention to Brandon Williams, AE, and barner on offense. Williams picked up some decent blocks and was open on most occasions. With some extensive looks in the next few games, he will make his presence known. AE lived up to the hype so far. He is the first wr off the line of scrimmage. His ability to make people miss impressed me the most. Edwards shook their #2 and 3 corners off the line to get open in the middle of the field. His first and second step really gets his initial separation because his speed isn't stellar. He is mentally light years ahead of where he was last year. Ricky has done wonders with this kid, he deserves some pie! Barner: we can check off the fumble to first game jitters. The cat looks the part. When he learns to aggressively shoot through the hole instead of picking a hole, he will run much harder. I think he is an absolute natural playmaker. His vision and lateral agility alone will make him special. I am very excited about the barn burner. On defense I zeroed in on our front 7 and whoever stood out to me in the secondary. Starr drew double teams consistently, and when he wasnt- he got penetration. He is exactly what we needed to dominate. Short also has a great bull rush with some pretty sweet moves. He plays a lot with his arms effectively. Hardy and Johnson will hit 30 sacks this year. We are a force. I'm so excited about them, I almost wrote Super Bowl. Back to the game.. This is a given- the one player I was not focusing in on but couldn't help but credit his play- Luke. The kid can diagnose and attack faster than anyone in the league. Pick almost any play and watch him in slow motion. He is like a world class chess player on the field. No matter where he is on the field, he will impact or make a play. He alone turned this defense into a special one. He was living in Chicago's backfield, making tackles across the field, and played outstanding coverage. Go rewatch this game and concentrate on him. Simply outstanding.

I was watching the OL for most of the time when the starters where in.  Amini did well in space with pulling and getting to the LB's, but he got beat bad a couple times by a swim move by the DT.  Williams was pretty solid, I'm actually fine going into the season with him.

The fumbles are unacceptable from Barner. Not sure how quickly he goes in the doghouse for that but he did look scrappy and fun to watch.

He was only resonsible for 1 fumble. The other was on Jimmy. He didn't place the ball in the basket. But Barner does need to work on ball security tho

The biggest thing you said, and i agree with it, is that Garry Williams had a good game.  Throw in Norman's game, and we know what we have in Florence and Munnerlyn (and Thomas), and the two biggest weaknesses were not weaknesses.

I would like to see a trend.

I also agree that the cupboards at T are bare.  Chandler and Bell cannot play LT.

I disagree with some of your observations:

- Brandon Williams did more than just contribute one reception. He had a couple impressive blocks in the run and passing attack.

- Garry Williams might have been beaten on that play but Cam still locked onto Olsen and missed LaFell. Garry didn't cause that INT.

- Short, Lotulelei and Cole weren't spectcular but they were better than okay. All three got penetration and nearly got sacks.

I don't think we disagree. I think you added some things I didn't observe closely.

As for Bell getting beaten on the pick 6. That's still on Cam, Bell just didn't do him any favors on that play.
