What I saw in the game.

1. Can we run the Ball - Basically can we impose our will and run Vanilla run plays.

Mixed review we looked good at times then bad very inconsistent. But unlike Chud, Shula didn't stop running. Which is a good thing.

2. Can we stop the run - Have the 2 new DT's improved our Run defense and will they hold up against a team playing smash mouth.

Yes. 19 carries for 70 yards their leading rusher was the 3rd string QB who scrambled 4 times for 26 yards. 1st team defense gave up no rushing yards to the 1st team Bears offense. Plus no points just punts.

3. Who will step up at WR- Is everything I've heard about Armanti in TC going to translate on the field. Will my boy Gettis ever come back to his rookie promise. Will Ginn do anything on offense. Whoever is playing in the 4th in this competition will show who's on the bubble early.

Armanti had 2 catches for 28 and Gettis had 3 catches for 56. Solids starts by both.  Ginn and DA were never on the same page Ginn had 1 catch for 17 yards even thoe he was targeted more then any other WR.

4. How long Does Mike Mitchell (SS) and Gray Williams (RG) -  If they leaves early with the other starters or a few plays after that. It shows they may have secured starting jobs already.

Mitchell (my breakout Player pick) has locked down the starting SS spot no doubt. And Gary looks like he might have the RG spot locked up. Both were done pretty quick in the 2nd Qrt.

5. Brandon Williams (Rookie TE) Playing time and how he looks - How he looks and how much he plays. If he makes a few plays and they shut him down before the 4th. He might be a lock for the roster. If he is still playing at the end of the game. He might not have shown enough and his roster spot isn't secured.

Kid got run with the first team and played most of the game also had a big catch for 24 yards to set up a TD. Got a long look by the coaching staff playing the whole game. HC Rivera had this to say about B-Dub
Jonathan Jones@jjones9  26m
Rivera: You want 53 guys who want it, and right now Brandon Williams is one of those guys

6. How close are we at getting Naka off the roster - If Lester shows anything or If DJ moore is getting run at FS Naka is gone.

Moore got hurt in practice so he didn't play but it was interesting that the guy we just signed a week ago Anderson Russell was playing with the 2nd team and not Naka. Plus he cause a Fumble and made a few plays. Naka days still looked Numbered.

7. Who's winning Camp Battles so far - 3rd  and 6th WR's, 9th Dlinemen, 3rd RB, The Oline after the 1st stringers. Basically what named players are playing in the 4th and could be on the bubble.

Not much clearer after this game.

Armanti looks like the lead at 3rd WR. Gettis had a better game then Pilaris and Adams and a lot more playing time. But Adams and Pilaris play special teams. Plus Adams looks like the big play Special team player I thought we were getting last year.

The 9th Dlinemen is a mystery. And the Oline was pretty solid all night no matter who was in there.

8. Last I want to see Jimmy - Jimmy has been holding a clipboard since 2011 and his only real playing time comes in the 1st and 4th Preseason games. I want to see if he's improved at all and will he ever show enough to be trade bait.

Jimmy still sucks and had a fumble trying to hand the ball off.

Disclaimer this is the 1st preseason game and I'd never really learn anything from the 1st or 4th preseason games. Number 1 thing I always look for is NO INJURIES!!

But to all Panther fans and fans in general you should never get to excited or to defeated by Preseason and if we come out with no major injuries. That is a win regardless of performance.

A few other Observation.

1. Dam we can get to the QB. 7 sacks!! 5 just from front 4 passrush.

2. Josh Norman was the MVP of the game 2 Int's (1 being a pick 6). He looks like he ready to be a starting NFL CB.

3. Barner better hold on to the ball or he won't see the field. (see Joe Adams 2012)

4. Amini and Bell looked ready to step up for this Oline. Everything we heard in TC about them maybe true. Cam and DA had all the time in the world. So far so good with the Oline.

5. Dam we have a Good Dline plus we're 2 deep at each spot.

6. Blackburn was a good pick-up. If Beason or TD miss time he and AJ Klien give us nice depth.

7. I can see Ricky Prohel's effect on our WR corp. All the guys look like better route runners and AE actually looks like a WR for once. Great Hire at WR coach.

8. Cam needs to stop being greedy and forcing the Ball to Olsen and 89. Lafell was open a few time so was AE. Cam needs to build more trust with the other guys.

9. I don't want to see the read option totally go away. It still needs to be a part of this offense. We didn't run 1 read optin play. I hope they are just saving them for the regular season.

10. We Finnally have depth at more then just the RB position. Dline, Oline, LB, and Secondary all look like we have talent behind the starters.

Nice write-up I agree with what you wrote, and seeing what our defense did tonight put a smile on my face and it also made me realize that the O-line is not as bad as we thought. Or it could be the Defense helped make them better either way I was happy with what I saw.

No Peppers made it much easier on us in more ways than I am prepared to type out.  Now or ever.

Overestimating our OLine WAY too much.

We need a Dwan-Edwards-like pick up before the season starts in a bad bad way.

I don't know what game you were watching but our QB's (even Jimmy)had time to scan the field. And even when they were pressured they had holes to get thru.

If Cam was locking on to Olsen and DA and Ginn could get on the same page. The passing Game would have looked even better. Not to mention the blitz pick-up was on point.

Now maybe the run Blocking could have been better but plays were made and I'm not going to kill them over Poole not hitting the hole early or D-will 1 big lost.

Plain and simple the Oline was Solid tonight.
