Let's bring the MLS to Charlotte

Why build stadium? We got 2 already... UNCC and Panthers. I would def buy season tickets tho.

no alcohol sales allowed on campus. Would be a bad choice. That's why I don't go to Charlotte Eagles games. If I can't drink at the game, I'd rather just go watch the UNC Charlotte team. They're better than the eagles anyway. I think they beat them almost every year in exhibitions.

Just to back up the last post...

Wilmington pulls a crowd about 5 times as large in a metro area that is almost 7 times smaller than Charlotte's.

Granted, the DII team in Cary pulled about 500 less people on average last year than Wilmington's DIII team, so maybe this isn't a good argument. But Duke & UNC both pull good crowds for soccer as well, so I think the Triangle would be a much better market.

I think the best chance is having the committee bump up the Carolina Railhawks to the MLS and then let them play at Carter-Finley Stadium while bumping up the Charlotte Eagles to the NASL.

The Railhawks are always atop the standings in the NASL and are constantly losing players and coaches to the MLS, it's about time they were able to keep some of their own guys.

Not a soccer guy, but I'll echo that Raleigh would be much better.

Hell, work out something with SAS to make WakeMed Soccer Park bigger and there's your stadium.

There's not enough room over there. I used to work for the Railhawks and they have expanded that stadium as much as possible and it still can only hold 15,000 (maximum capacity).

They would have to let the team play at Carter-Finley.

Especially with all the Hurricanes/PNC stuff this offseason, I can only imagine Yow being oh so open to a MLS team in Carter-Finley. I'm sure she'll be gone by the time a team could get here though.
