He's made strides from where he was a year ago. Though I know he'd hate to hear it personally, I legitimately do feel as if he is a year away from contending for a roster spot.

 

Obviously he wouldn't like to hear that, but I mean it sincerely. If he works hard this offseason, he has enough room for growth and I think he can come out next year and make an actual for move for a spot on the team. Practice squad would be good for him.

Practice squadders make a little under 100K for a season.  Not bad for just practicing.

 

There's also the "ow, my finger...guess I gotta go on IR" option.
