Let's talk about that pick 6....

Recommended Posts

eh that pass was pretty quick not much looking off to that. that defender made a good play.

Yeah. Could have been an intended, timing pattern, they were working on in practice. Cam appeared to just lock on, force it in (preseason maybe), and we saw the result. I'll leave it at that.

Stay tuned, for the next set preseason games.

I mentioned in another thread that perhaps I need to see a replay but from my first (albeit hazy) impression that Olsen was about to create a window had Cam thrown a second later... Definitely not above saying I missed that LB as well.. ;)

The replay gave me the same impression, but I don't doubt another view of the situation may change my perspective...

I like Cam's anticipation, but my view could have been just as fallible..

Well, you are probably right that if he has waited until Olsen passed behind the LB and gone further in his route then the pick wouldn't of occurred.

But then the question comes down to wasn't Olsen's route essentially a quick hitter? Cam just wasnt suppose to hit him with a LB sitting in the pass lane. Cam likely was suppose to go to a different option since the LB occupied that passing lane.

Who knows....all we know for certain is Cam shouldn't of thrown that when he did

I dont think Cam stared down Olsen ... Lafell and Olsen were in the same line of site. Cam just lost the LB

Well, Cam did stare Olsen down...he locks on to all his slants IMO way too obviously.

That didn't aid the guy covering Olsen. made it an easy pick for the LB Cam didn't know was just sitting there.

you know what CRA..  despite the people who can't step out of themselves to realize their own issues, I still respect the fug out of your ability to explain yourself..  If only more members were able to take a step back and see the balance in which you exuberate your words more people wouldn't let their true issues hinder their opinions of you throughout this forum...

with that said, I don't think Olsen's route was a quick hit since it appeared to be an out and in (or out and up...  or a corner/post....  I'd have to watch again)..   To me, I think he was wide open after the fact, but again, I'd have to watch the play another time...

I put up with the bull here bc there are still so many great posters here to talk football with....you fall into that. :)

Hopefully tonight when the kid and wife are asleep I can watch some of it again as well. I need to go ahead and see if I can find the NFLN HD reshow and DVR it. The Panther broadcast I got last night was weird.....tiny and inside a black box.

Cam needs to stay away from mistakes like the INT. This year is about letting our defense wins games, running the ball, and making short to intermediate throws.

As presently constructed this offense is good for about 16-20 points per game. We can't afford to have the offense giving up points.

Here we are at the Preseason of the NFL and the topic of discussion is, Cam! Amazing how some of u get upset with the media yet u do exactly what they do for attention: make so much out of every mistake Cam makes.

I'm sure if Luck had thrown that pick 6 last night it wouldn't even be as much as a blip on the discussion radar. But this is Cam, and so the endless and unnecessary discussion over a pick six during a preseason game continues. Bitch about the media all you want but it's threads like this that help fuel their endless attack of Cam.

We have one of the greatest weapons in the NFL..... and we run a vertical passing O.

Winning should be about stepping on people's throats on both sides of the ball. Not handcuffing Newton.

We don't have a secondary to simply play a let the D win type football.

Keep in mind that it was a third down play. So Cam knows hes done if they don't convert there. Hopefully thats what caused the forced throw and him being riskier with his decision making than he otherwise normally would have been.

Exactly what I told the guy sitting next to me in my section. He knew it was third down and that if he didn't convert he wouldn't be coming back into the game. His focus was getting a quick first down. In a real game hopefully he protects the ball with more football to be played.
