Official Chicago Bears at Carolina Panthers Gameday Thread

Quality over quantity. Our oline depth is pathetic. I see only 3 backups worth keeping in Byers, Kugbila, and Campbell. Rest is trash.

7 seems to be the number at WR.

Six corners seems more reasonable with the way they played tonight. Florence, Captain, and Norman are locks. Thomas is a probability... Moore makes it because of his versatility and Dockery makes it because of his overall ability to produce on gameday.

The only way we keep seven wide receivers is if Gettleman goes with two quarterbacks or decides to use D.J. Moore as Charles Godfrey's backup at safety.

They can keep 6 CBs and 7 WRs if they keep only 3 backup OL, which has been done before, and decide to keep 4 DTs instead of 5. The players that deserve to make it will make it. Coaches don't have a preset number for each position.

Reality is that receiver is still one of our biggest needs. We have an elite return man in ginn, he has already proven to be arguably the best returner in the league other than Hester and now we have barner who seems to be a good returner as well. Knowing that, there is no reason to keep 2 below-average receivers on our team just because of their return ability when we already have one of the best returners in the game. The way I see it we have 6 guys who can contribute in the RECEIVING game: smith, lafell, AE, hixon, gettis and ginn as the deep threat. Adams and Pilares are just a wasted roster spot IMO. Adams certainly has potential, but there's no reason to try to fill a glaring need with someone who will probably never see the field unless it's a punt return

They will keep more than three OL with the injuries they suffered at that position last year. No one wants to be in the position to have to pick a player up off the street because you don't have enough of those guys on the roster.

been catching up on the game after getting home from work.

despite everything that has happened so far, the most impressive thing that I've seen thus far is the old referee that just bicep curled Colin Cole and Kawann Short from off of the ground.

Watch your back, Hochuli.

Overall, I feel really good after tonight.  The front seven was nasty and the secondary was opportunistic.  Ideally, that's what we have to hope for.  Our secondary isn't great, but playing behind a great pass rush can cover up secondary issues.  I think we have the parts at WR to be successful considering we have a star QB.  Just look at what Tom Brady has to work with and no one seems to be panicking about NE's WR corps.  If Smitty can still be Smitty, we'll be fine there.  My lone worry is the OL, OL depth specifically.  I'd really like to see Kugzilla get some run to see what he has.

Like I said before, besides the 3 I mentioned, we have no one else worth keeping. They're just as good as anyone else we pick up off the street. So we're really not helping ourselves much if we keep more than 3.
