Ron Rivera's Training Camp MVP: Armanti Edwards

Recommended Posts

AE gets more postive cheers and support at games than any other WR not named smitty.

Well first look at the receivers that he was competing with these past few years (Naanee, Murphy).

And then taking in account all the App State fans that are in the area and it's not much of a surprise.

Unfortunately, none of the cheers are because people think that he is a good football player.

My hesitation with AE is...

Last year, on his two "huge plays".....is he didn't impress on them. He was put into position to really do something special....and couldn't.

Thus far, bc collectively we are homers....our secondary is being spun by us as not poo. On paper it is poo in coverage. AE blowing them up would support that as he has shown surprisingly little to no playmaking ability up until our secondary reached this sad state.

Our best cover corner and cover S left and we weren't impressive with them. And yeah, Sherrod Martin was our best coverage S.....and that isn't an endorsement of him.

That isn't AE hate. Everyone Panther fan would love for him to explode.....but not thinking that is likely isn't hate

Our secodary as a whole should be better than last season. Not saying its good or bad. Just better. And AE wasn't lighting up the secondary last season.

Coverage wise?

I think they have to prove such a thing....before people keep saying that. Mitchell isn't a coverage guy...

After the Atl game Sherrod Martin actually started playing some pretty good football. He was our best S in coverage last year until he got hurt.

I would say from a run standpoint or blitzing stand point we improved at S.

CBs? Florence needs to prove he can do what he did years ago. He was available for a reason and didn't stick on some very weak rosters for a reason in recent times.....

I just don't see how we can claim we are better in coverage bc of signing Mitchell and Florence.....losing Gamble and Martin.

COULD we be better? YES. But they need to show that before we pencil all that in IMO. Lets see if anyone can come close to stopping Culter/Marshall at least Fri
