Mad about not getting a SBC invite are you? I personally thought it should've been Liberty or JMU. Maybe both considering Idaho and NMSU bring nothing in football.

If App scheduled Liberty I think you would see the difference between the schools.

The difference is we get a lot of transfers as where you guys get a lot of recruits... We have transfers from UVA, Georgia Tech, Washington etc...

I was a little shocked that we didn't get a Sun Belt invite, but apparently they don't like the fact that we make a lot of money through our online program.

I was disappointed to since all my family lives on Smith Mtn Lake and in Gretna or Altavista. That would've been a regular trip to an away game and I feel like several other App fans would have as well.

An online program is not a negative as long as the instruction is good in my opinion.

That being said, I believe when we drop Idaho(fingers crossed) Liberty will get a shot.

Back on topic, Armanti is awesome and was able to catch and drop the same pass today.

I was talking to someone else that works at LU and before all the realignment took place, we were trying to figure out 10 FCS schools that could join together and form an FBS conference based on competitiveniss, and facilities budget (we couldn't include location because there aren't enough teams that could make the jump based on that factor), and we came up with: Liberty, Appalachian State, James Madison, Georgia Southern, Old Dominion, Delaware, Jacksonville State, Tennessee State, Montana, and North Dakota State.

They could and I believe would eventually have been more competitive than the Sun Belt, even though the Sun Belt is on the up and up and just got rid of two cellar dwellers, even though they added two more in NMSU, and Idaho.

App state, JMU, Liberty, ODU, SCSU, UNCC, Georgia Southern, and Georgia State I believe would be an ideal FBS conference. Similar resources, facilities and academic standing, as well as being regional.

Oh well, we will see if the public schools can overcome the religious institution bias and realize App cannot be two states removed from the closest conference member to stay in the Sun Belt. If App starts winning and CUSA wants to expand App is smack in the middle of their geographic footprint.

Isn't Liberty sports a joke?

We had more conference tournaments championships (11) then every division one school except Stanford.

Our men's and women's basketball team, golf team, baseball team, mens and womens track and field team, volleyball team, and mens and womens swimming team all made it to the NCAA tournament.

Our baseball team made it to the regional finals before losing to South Carolina 5-3.

Our football team is on the up and up with Turner Gill (former KU head coach) as our head coach. Last year our coaching staff consisted of Mike Minter (former Carolina Panther), Joe Daley (former UNC and Nebraska football player), Carl Torbush (former UNC head coach), and Dennis Wagner (former Western Carolina head coach).

CBS Sports James Brown, Christian Ponder, Samantha Steele-Ponder (former LU grad), The Golden Calf of Bristol, and Willie from Duck Dynasty actually came to speak and tour our football facility this past year.

Our club teams are also successful. Our women's hockey team was ranked 2nd nationally, our men's hockey team was ranked 14th nationally, our wrestling team was ranked 2nd nationally, and our paintball team was ranked number one in the nation.

I think we do alright.

Jerry Falwell got in to the college business and started Liberty

A lot of people don't like Liberty because of Falwell but the school has drastically changed since he was chancellor.

He said and did a lot of foolish things (essentially blaming 9/11 on homosexuals). His son is the chancellor now and though we haven't distanced ourselves from his name but we have distanced ourself from a lot of things that he said and did.

I think a lot of people would be surprised with the school. We have the largest library one the east coast and though a lot of people make fun of their academics, they have a top notch sport management and aviation program. The play by play announcer for the Panthers is actually the play by play announcer for the Liberty baseball team.

Liberty is a funny name for the school. I don't know about now but they used to have all kinds of restrictive and silly rules. Not sure if they do now. But things like  6 inch rule for men and women (luckily I have 9 inches so it's not an issue) no dancing etc...hardly liberty.

Lynchburg is a pretty uninteresting town. But you aren't really allowed out anyway.

 

They do have some nice sports facilities and I have met some nice people from there. Also a fair amount of aggressively argumentative nutters.

 

But that was back when Falwell was running the camp.
