Bobcats Sign Anthony Tolliver

Recommended Posts

Veteran forward Anthony Tolliver has narrowed his free agent choices to Charlotte, Chicago and Utah and is expected to finalize a deal by this weekend, one source told HoopsHype.

Coach Clifford said that the Bobcats were looking to add another forward and point guard, well Tolliver might be that "forward".

Tolliver is in his 6th year in the NBA and has has experience with the Spurs, Warriors, Trail Blazers, Timberwolves, and Hawks. His best year in the NBA came five years ago with Golden State when he averaged 12.3 points per game (43% field goal percentage), 7.3 rebounds per game, and 2.0 assists per game in 32.3 minutes per game.

Last year Tolliver averaged 4.1 points per game (38% field goal percentage) and 2.5 rebounds per game in 15.5 minutes per game. However, Tolliver is capable of a breakout game every once in awhile... last year Tolliver recorded 21 points (.700 field goal percentage), 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 assist in 27 minutes while leading the Hawks to a 107-96 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

While Tolliver won't get you 10 points and 8 rebounds every night like Josh McRoberts, he would be a decent backup to Zeller and McBob.

A guy the team needs on the back end of the bench along with Pat Ewing Jr.

I am loving the Zellar, Biyombo, Jefferson, McRoberts front court rotation. I guess he would swing form the 3 and 4.

He brings that Byron Mullens skill set that is now missing lol.

He is as good a Sims was in the summer league who flashed a little but countered it quick with bad play.

Sign Tolliver, Seth Curry, and Ewing Jr. and I'm good.

Depth Chart:

C: Al Jefferson, Bismack Biyombo, Brendan Haywood

PF: Cody Zeller, Josh McRoberts, Anthony Tolliver

SF: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Jeff Taylor

SG: Gerald Henderson, Ben Gordon, Patrick Ewing Jr.

PG: Kemba Walker, Ramon Sessions, Seth Curry

Would really love to trade Gordon for a pick and veteran SF though and move Taylor to backup SG.

While he waits to learn more about the Lakers' situation, other teams on Tolliver’s list are Charlotte, Utah and Chicago. Tolliver said the Bobcats have made a contract offer (for the minimum) and he visited Charlotte last Monday. Sulia

Free agent Anthony Tolliver told me Lakers have entered mix as possible team for him & he visited Charlotte Monday. Tolliver said the Lakers recently called his agent, Larry Fox, to express interest. He said talks are still preliminary but he would have definite interest if the Lakers turn out to be a serious option. “Obviously, to have a chance to play for a franchise like that, you’d have to think long and hard about that,’’ the forward told FOX Sports Florida. Sulia

Rick Bonnell: Also, Bobcats have offered power forward Anthony Tolliver a 1-year contract. Tolliver is weighing his options next few days. Twitter @rick_bonnell

Rick Bonnell: Regarding Tolliver (or Jeff Adrien), Clifford said last month he'd rather have a sixth big (PF or center) than an additional wing player. Twitter @rick_bonnell

I guess the idea is that they will cut Adrien if they sign Tolliver.

Shams Charania: Anthony Tolliver reaches agreement on one-year, fully guaranteed deal w/ Bobcats that won't be finalized until Friday, source tells RealGM. Twitter @ShamsCharania

Tolliver wanted to wrap up a deal before he left for vacation Sunday to the Dominican Republic. Tolliver, who will sign a one-year, $1,027 million, went for the sure thing. Tolliver will sign with the Bobcats in about a week, after he returns from vacation. Sulia

Anthony Tolliver’s agent, Larry Fox, said his client will be a good fit for the Charlotte Bobcats.“He went there on Monday and had a good visit with Steve Clifford,’’ Fox told FOX Sports Florida about Tolliver going to Charlotte. “He believes the team is heading in the right direction. “They’ve got a good group of young players and I think he’ll fit right in. He’s a good fit because the Bobcats don’t really have on their roster a (power forward) who can step out and shoot.’’ Sulia

Shams Charania: Up until verbal agreement with Bobcats, Tolliver had been in negotiations with Bulls and Lakers, source says. Clippers became serious too. Twitter @ShamsCharania

Anthony Tolliver: I will be taking my talents to Charlotte! Blessed to have another opportunity in the NBA...lots of ORANGE in my future!

    • Film Room Playlist _ NFL Pro — Mozilla Firefox 2024-11-25 10-20-11.mp4 🎯🎯🎯 There were a couple of "fans" yesterday saying that this wasn't a helmet-to-helmet shot... 👀 Looks like based on where Moore was and where the play ended, he'd have gotten maybe just a yard or two more. Chuba was downed at the KC 16 and Moore was on his way back to the QB, so the offense got what they could for the most part. After reviewing the all-22, Bryce made the right call here. Tremble was the hot and KC sent both LBs. He gets it out with a clear pocket but it's quickly collapsing. If there was a little more time it looked like AT came free at the end but whether or not Bryce would've been upright still is another story. Smart move to get the completion and keep the field goal in play to stay alive. George Karlaftis is about to get himself a big ole hug and Bryce heaves it to where David Moore is going. Trent McDuffie slipped just a step or two before this shot, but we can see the clear DPI here as he's wrapped around David Moore before knocking him over as the ball gets there.
    • I’m taking a TE early day 3 Ian Thomas and Tremble are FA.  We should have no desire to bring them back.   There’s more than enough film of ball bouncing off their hands or facemask.
    • Daniel Jones sometimes would sling it for 300 or 400 yards.  That's my stance.  We know what Bryce is.  If you consistently play any QB at this level, they largely are going to end up w/ some good days/games.  last time Mahomes was at BOA, Teddy Bridgwater threw for 300+ yards and a couple TDs and the Matt Rhule Panthers almost took him down.  We know what Bryce is.  Now we got people predictably falling into a predictable trap.
