Could you clarify the racism one for me? For example if the league makes a change to the Ronney Rule and someone makes a thread about it, is that a violation of the racism discussion ban since the Rooney Rule only exists to counterbalance institutional discrimination?

I get the intent based upon some of the more inappropriate posts, but I'm concern it will lead to an exclusion of race from any discussion which I would contend is not healthy for mutual dialogue.

Or to be more provacative, Only white people get to be colorblind.

As someone who has moderated forums and communities in the past (and is currently an anonymous moderator of a very, very large NFL community) the only thing that irks me about the way the Huddle is run is the lack of consistency and haphazard implementation of what rules there are. Yes, I understand this is very much a fan-organized website where Zod and the mods do a ton of work on the users behalf, but it seems the board constantly goes through periods of enforcement than lax attention, and the cycle repeats. I know dealing with the onslaught of idiots can be extremely taxing, but the only way to effect a semi-permanent shift in culture is to be vigilant in maintaining forum decorum for more than a few months at a time. And again, I empathize with annoyances of trying to handle message boards; it's one of the least thankful, angst-ridden tasks known to mankind.

If in any way I could assist in that regard rather than offering unsolicited critiques I'll be happy to do so.

Two things FP...

1)  I believe this is one of the largest, if not, the largest Panthers fan forum on the net.  So, I think there is a greater influx of idiots than most other places get.  They are like candleflies to a floodlight.

2)  I also think what separates The Huddle from other places is the constant moving line as to what goes and what doesn't.  We give most people a chance, even if they don't deserve it (look at the numerous rival fan trolls we have).  In my experience, long-standing zero tolerance policies elsewhere completely take the personality out of the forum.  So, although it may not be perfect and inconsistent, it makes The Huddle what it is...

I agree completely on both points; in fact, I wouldn't imagine a zero tolerance policy doing more than encouraging more trolling. It's more about consistency in attention and application of what rules there are more than the content of the rules themselves. Although, when the rules become too flexible than people constantly will push them to the limit, so there's a definite balance. It'd be so much easier if people just acted like rational adults on the internet. . .but that's never going to happen.

well stated Panthro and Hatter...

without ruining the atmosphere by explaining it to everyone, this chaosy bunch is why this forum rarely gets trolled like other teams or how nfl.com gets steamrolled in voting- all for a jersey.  Ironically enough, still points to the lunacy around these parts since all you did was give NFL.com an insane amount of traffic..

So be it, at least we got the Panthers attention and hopefully get to see more black on black jersey crime this year..  oh, and made a lot of other teams fans mad in the process.

the racial provocation could possibly get more attention but it seems to me most of it has been handled long before this thread.  And the best way to combat someone goin 1 hunnit with the douchebaggery is to hit ignore or expose them for who they are..  Only YOU can prevent dumpster fires...

otherwise, this forum tends to breed tough skin and only encourages a somewhat rabid fanbase...  This city could use more of that on game day with the way opposing fans take over the stadium.

like I said in another thread, it's football bitches...
