really funny guy. honestly didn't know he was still alive. been years since i heard anything about him.

ESPN used him in a great series of promos for their NFL Countdown and Sunday Night Football shows some years back.  A lot of people who hadn't heard of him before got to know a little about him through those.

 

One of them involved the Panthers.  His line for that was "Carolina Panthers?  Man, I'm gettin' old."

One of my most favorite players of all time.  He had that way of telling a story.  What a funny man.  I could listen to him for hours. I can tell you he argued to his grave Unitas was the greatest QB of all time.  He was a staunch Unitas fan.  Of course they won a couple of Championships together.
