Why are the people on this forum always negative?

Why can't it be possible he's finally put it together.

I will preface this by saying that i went to WCU and played football - when I did, WCU and App St were heated rivals.  This to show that I am not about App Crap or a loyal Boone goon. And all I can say is "We beat ASU" when I played against them. Go Catamounts.

 

Armanti works hard.  I chatted with him during his rookie season.  He was having trouble with route running, beating jams, etc.  He was overwhelmed, and that is coming from a former QB.  He said his routes and timing--being there when the ball was there--was his biggest concern.

 

He has since mastered these aspects of the game and you are seeing it.  In college he was a qiuck open-field runner, but WRs are totally different--they don't usually choose where they are running--they are so precise. 

 

As a former pass catcher, I noticed that AE was getting the ball at awkward times.  It was as if it was on him before he was ready.  From the few snaps I have seen from camp,, his timing seems excellent.   He gets it now.

 

Other college QBs have converted to WR, but there have not been many.  The best, in my opinion, was Freddie Solomon, who played in the NFL from 1975-85 and caught 371 passes for 5,846 yards and 48 TDs.  He averaged about 600 yards per season, but his first three seasons were less than half that. Antwan Randall El is the other very good one.  After that, Aside from Matt Jones, there are not many.  (Hines Ward played WR in college and Kordell Stewart ended up a QB).

 

So, lets give him a chance.  There are not many who have done what he is doing.

Armanti was never the problem. As describe earlier he was in a bad spot the first two season due to Fox and then the lock-out.

 

You can see the work he's put in the entire time he's been here, he's gotten steadily better every season. Now it looks like maybe he's able to put everything he's learned together and actually apply it.

 

You can knock AE for a few things, but work ethic isn't one of them and one of the biggest ways to know that is by the help he gets from Steve Smith. Smitty doesn't waste his time with guys who won't help themselves.

 

Again, if you could take AE's intangibles and merge them with the tangibles of Dwayne Jarrett we'd have a very good WR on the roster.

I guess when some people's lives are such a disappointment, they don't know any better. They prob learned at a young age to be pessimistic...that way they were not over disappointed when nothing good happened.

It's also worth noting that Ras I-Dowling, the guy the Patriots took with the 33rd pick, has LITERALLY produced less than Armanti. Not saying we would've pick the same guy, but if the Patriots screwed the pick up, our dumbass front office probably wouldn't have stood a chance.

Hey man, I wish Armanti the best and hope like hell he's the next coming of Steve Smith.  Just saying the secondary might make receivers look better than they are...

Not discounting AE s hard worek, but Armanti in an interview on the David Glenn show,  directly referenced Proehl for giving all the wr s a chance and not just 2 or 3 guys.  Sounds like that wasnt done in the past.

I'm glad Armanti is finally putting it together. However, no one here can blame anyone for being skeptical. We've heard this same company line, over and over. "AE is looking great out there", "AE made some nice catches", "AE is progressing". It's time to finally see the guy do something in an actual football game.

If Armanti can be an effective player we may just have a solid WR core. Not great, but solid, good if you consider Olsen.

I think having a #1 punt returner out there has helped too.  Having a college QB convert to WR is tough enough, but throwing return duties out there too has got to make it even harder.

 

Hope to see him succeed. Good things come to good people, and Armanti is a good guy. Love the work ethic.

Worth ethic doesn't always mean the progression will be good enough. Yea Armanti went to not being able to catch a punt to catching it. I suppose you could say that is improvement over the past three years. But, I just don't see him contributing anything to this team not now or the future. He did not look like a NFL calibur athlete and still doesn't in my opinion. He can't take hits, is undersized, he has zero stamina, hands are not the best, speed is good but again no stamina. The 'yea but he was a QB' excuse is no longer valid. He was also camp hero last year, didn't translate. He is really one that needs to show it for me to care at all.

 

But yes, he went to App, he will have a roster spot and people will defend him just like they did Jarrett.

 

I don't think a negative perception is always based dissapointing life experiences...sometimes it comes down to plain observational life experience. You see it, you know it unless it changes. I don't believe it will. You always hope for the best, but tha's a given, no one should have to state that here we are all Panther fans.
