Panthers Sign Chris Scott and Ricardo Silva, Gaydosh To IR

Recommended Posts

Here is the thing.... I am not sure how Williams at RG is going to turn out. It makes me very nervous.

However, RR stated that he was ready and slated to be the starting RG almost two years ago when he broke his ankle...that us why Hang was brought back in the first place. Then, he played some last year, but again RR stated that he was not even 100% last year.

He is now 100% and ready to go. DG must have seen the same thing and agrees.

So, I am cautiously optimistic that he is ready.

I have a hard time believing gettleman is done with signing players. And I'm certainly not going to think the sky is falling. Have a little faith people. Btw CRA. Cam isnt going anywhere

who is Gettleman going to sign?

Seriously.

Who is he going to sign that is going to be an upgrade.

There is no one out there.

Pretty much any veteran guard that gets released would be equal to and most likely better than Hangartner...for cheaper. I honestly believe that.

agreed. the belief that what we've got now is as good as it's gonna get this season is pretty silly.

we don't have the bar set very high at all for that right side. the good news about releasing hangartner is that it showed there is, in fact, a bar set.

it won't take much to upgrade. all we have to do is be serious about getting better there. sitting on what we have doesn't display that. i can't believe that this team believes that this is as good as it's going to get. i refuse to believe it.

Then you are severely under rating/value our current talent if you think some one cut is gonna come in and start right away. That is the exception to the rule.

Not the rule.

I'm not sure where you are going with that.

I believe it would be fairly easy to get a veteran upgrade over Hangartner.

@Panthers: #Panthers have signed G Chris Scott and have claimed S Ricardo Silva off waivers from Detroit Lions. Team waived/injured DT

@PFF: New Panthers safety Ricardo Silva featured on 427 snaps last year for Detroit. 87.8% of plays as a deep safety, struggled w/tackling

@jjones9: Panthers add depth with signings, waive Gaydosh, in blog form http://t.co/Tk8D9IvH0c

i'm sure you were probably saying that last year before we got dwan.

what we have isn't good. you're being gracious to call it average. i'm not underrating that right side, esp. RG. we don't have much in the way of talent there.

It would be great to have a guy like Dwan last year fall into our laps for the o line this year. I don't want to rely on finding a diamond in the rough to protect our quarterback though, we won't replicate that luck too often.

then what's the plan?

go with what we've got? we better hope we have something fall into our laps because going with who we have isn't a good option.

that said, i still maintain that the bar isn't set too high with garry. it won't be hard to find an upgrade. i'm not talking about dwan level. i'm talking about average talent. someone will be cut and willing to just take a job for a year. it's better than the alternative. there will be some cap casualty that comes along that will be to our benefit.

what we have right now is "diamond in the rough" enough. i'd rather just find someone that knew what he was doing and didn't get pushed around.
