Gettlemen is no idiot. He has a plan that has been up in motion.  He will be bringing in our starting RG in the next day or so......prob either Wharton or Moore.

 

I get that...but you don't know what he's gonna do any more than I do.

I'm sure he will bring someone in...may not be who everyone wants it to be though.

Checked out Rotoworld on this.  They were saying how bad the line would be because the starting RG would be Kug (who has not practiced yet).  They are too stupid to know that Gett would not release their starting RG without another plan already in motion.....and that plan is not a DII rookie who has not even practiced yet.

I think chemistry on the o line is incredibly important. They are protecting the man that this franchise lives and dies by. Like the rest of yall, I hope Getts has someone coming in today or tomorrow that is an upgrade. But if this is a pure financial decision, then I will be pretty bummed about this to say the least.

I am being realistic.  Gett is not an idiot.  There is no way that Kug is his plan....as he has not even practiced yet.  Gett has made smart moves this offseason to upgrade areas of weakness.  This is just the next one on the list.

 

I am not sure who he brings in....but I will guarantee you that somone is coming.

 

My gut tells me Wharton.....though my hope is for Moore.

Getts watched our entire 2012 season and there was no way he didn't see Piggy's awful performance.. I'm glad he's gone.. he was a backup who ended up starting

Piggy is a good backup C option.

Gettleman's point is that Hangman was not a starting RG. There was little to no drop off with him out. So.... lets save some $$>

I'm glad we saved some cash but I'm waiting to see what's next.  The timing is the only thing I'm angry about.  This should have happened a week ago.

they signed ryan lilja out of retirement today although the broncos are as likely a landing place for hangartner as any team in the league

Your missing Zod's point. There was already a hole in the offensive line. At least now, we aren't literally paying for it by dumping financial resources into it. Hangartner is no better than the man behind him.

 

Is it reasonable to expect an upgrade? Sure. But that was already reasonable to assume prior to this.

 

There is no dropoff with Hangartner and the next man behind him. He has been that bad.

He is a great backup tho, why release him? Getts can go out and get his 33 year old Wharton and 33 year old Brandon Moore all he wants.

Great backup but over 3 mil in cap space for the next two years. Read my 2014 cap analysis thread and you'll see how much trouble we are in.

Despite what it looks like we have no cap room this year because we need it to carry over for next year. Want a vet guard? Gotta clear the cap space to sign one.
