Panthers Release Hangartner

ignore CRA.

he thinks Gettleman isn't "sold" on Cam and in his mind isn't giving the Panthers the proper tools to win so that after this year he can can Rivera and probably dump Cam and pick his own coach and qb.

he doesn't think he is pessimistic or negative when he really is most of the time.

Saying I am not sold on DG being sold on Cam isn't far fetched. DG has twice now made comments that don't jive with faith in Newton or perhaps simply a non traditional option at the position.

If we lose Rivera is done - that isn't far fetched.

If Rivera goes - NFL history says Newton follows

Funny that the Observer today had an article about Hangartner and how his versatility was sure to play a key role in the upcoming season.

I guess his real versatility was that he could cost us $2 mil or cost us nothing. The "nothing" choice just provided a lot more options.

He was a classy guy and kept it 100%, unfortunately he wasn't starter material.

He should have just restructured.

I'm appalled that Garry Williams is still on this team. He is straight up trash.

I would guess his cap figure is the only reason Williams is still a Panther. Hangman was getting paid too much for his performance, or even as a bench warming backup. A dropoff is expected when the #2 comes in the game, but you can't accept that big of a drop. G-Man can find some young and hungry UDFA to do what Hangman did last year, and pay him less than half. He was worse than bad and almost got Cam killed on multiple occassions/games. Some players had bad games. He had a bad year.

IMO, the Panthers can't afford to go cheap when it come to protecting Cam Newton or making holes for a running back group that has vastly underachieved since 2008. If DG dropped Hangman for Gary Williams because of money, then that was a mistake. Bringing in another player to learn to gel with the rest of the o line takes time. Look at how long it took Bryon and Amini to adjust... Once again, cutting Hangartner will come back to haunt this team. You don't find 6'6 305 growing on trees.

Well it is when you have been reading joe person slanted views that didnt give the context of the comments and when gettleman reviewed the tape of last year and is aware of the read option heavy was ineffective and cam needs to work on being a better passer.

You have stated that gettleman isnt providing the proper tools for us to compete this year because rivera is not his guy. All the evidence supports to the contrary.

You are looking for things that are not there. I suggest reading rayzors thread about the gettleman comments. He knows cam is the present and the future. And he wants this team to succeed right now. Thinking otherwise goes against facts and id being a negative nancy

$2M is a lot to pay for a turnstile, and for those panicking, you should all know better that these types of moves precipitate other moves. I trust in Gettleman and it's foolish to live in the "here and now" before waiting for this whole thing to play out. Patience.

Seems like we had enough cap room to make moves without cutting piggy. Can't say I fully understand this, piggy has value as a swing backup being able to play multiple positions on the line. Also watched an interview with Gross just yesterday in which he was saying this is the best the oline has looked in tc in years, so I hope the chemistry can continue with whoever we bring in.

Hangman plays center and guard, that's it. Jeff Byers did the same last year for vet minimum. And he's still on the roster.
